If anyone else has been burning away their lives in this game, here's 4 minutes of random snippets from my adventures thusfar.
If you aren't playing this game at least a little bit, you totally should be.

I am and I just hit Lvl 21 but am considering restarting for the 3rd time.....
I'm trying to create basically the 5th generation of character into my game so that after I complete the main quests I can completely ignore all of that and make my own story. Basically at present I am set on using Explosives and playing through as Rail Road operative named Fixer.
S - 3 (+1) = 4 P - 5 (+1) = 6 E - 4 (+1) = 5 C - 3 (+1) = 4 I - 5 (+1) = 6 A - 7 (+1) = 8 L - 1 (+1) = 2
That leaves me with the You Are Special book yet to assign and basically access to all of the core Perks I will be using without having to invest into increasing my own stats right off of the bat. Also since there are no Traits any longer I cannot opt for the Jinxed Trait to represent bad luck.... and in Fallout 4 I always end up with way too much ammo and storing critical hits anyway so find the statistic absolutely worthless.
Thankfully I've whittled down the weapons I carry to a 3 weapon load out that barely weighs more than 50lbs and can rely on a very accessible supply of grenades and and plentiful 10mm rounds..... oh and Curie.
Deliverer Assault Rifle/ Maximised Focused Recoil Reduced Tactical Old Faithful Serrated Machete
3x Frag Mines 3x Bottlecap Mines 5x Frag Grenades
Kellog's Outfit (Can't find anything cooler)
As for perks I find a combination of Toughness, Moving Target, and the Rail Road Armoured Coat gives me more than enough DR and ER to get right up close if I need it. Explosives plus Pick Pocket equals my Shady Sands Shuffle, and Big Leagues/Iron Fist plus Chem Resistant turns you into Bane.

Curie is the best. I've got her glitched with a modified power fist in her power armor and she does a truckload of damage each hit lmao. I might take her out of the power armor again though just because her pathing gets all wonky in it. Ive got like 140 hours into this game and I'm only like halfway through the story haha, I spend way too much time building settlements.
And now that I discovered the mods....yeaaaa.....best single player game I've played in a while, that's for sure.
I wish I had your restraint with weapon loadouts haha, between weapons armor and aid items my base weight is a cool 200/325 lol. Another reason to have Curie in the PA haha

I'm looking into settlements now that I have restarted the game completely and deleted all of my saved content but I haven't found any good places just yet.
So now I'm back to slogging through the early levels. While I initially considered this a daunting prospect I found that I had all of the tools necessary to get what I needed out of the early game.
- .44 Revolver from the Water Purification Station South East of Sanctuary - Charging Laser Sniper Rifle from the Gunners Settlement South South East of Ten Pines Bluff - Dog Armour Full Set North West of a pond near another Gunners Settlement - MacCreedy's Duster and Hat from Goodneighbour -Missile Launcher and Missiles from Super Mutant near that Cult on way to Goodneighbour - Furious Powerfist Swan's Pond
I basically chained these events into a quick binge sessions and I'm ready to start playing the main story. I also got insanely lucky off the bat finding a Focusing Array and Maximised Capacitor in Goodneighbour. With the caps I have I can fit those two and the advanced short barrel on Old Faithul for 50 damage without perks and doubled damage on targets at full HP doubled or even tripled again by Ninja.
As for restraint... it's actually just a habit from Survival Mode lingering from Fallout New Vegas where ammo had weight and trying to ferry large quantities of ammo for different guns saw you overloaded quickly and usually needing to make multiple trips to places.
At present my carry is about 105lbs of 230.
I'd be set for life if I could find Sturdy Combat Armour.

I picked up scavenger fairly early because I have a twitchy trigger finger and like things that shoot quickly, so I generally need all the ammo I can find. I'm having the most fun on Survival difficulty right now, the enemies can be hit point sponges but with Curies added melee damage it rarely matters. It's also nice having to think of your placement since stimpacks and radaway heal so slowly.
If you do any crafting at all I would STRONGLY advise you to dedicate at least one settlement to growing Tatos, Mutefruit, and Corn. These can be combined at a cooking station to make Starch, which gives you 5 Adhesive, which are fairly hard to come by. Just swing by there every so often and harvest them, be sure to have settlers assigned to them so they grow back.
God damn this game is so much fun.

I never really considered that to be honest. I've not yet been able to build a settlement in a place I like the look of.
The early game zones are rather boring so I'm waiting until I go East before I get too set on one location. Jamaica Plains might end up being my home settlement.
