Hey everybody. I've seen many people complaining about jumpers, and it's true they can be annoying even if I kill them easily. Being able to jump high is super interesting tactically speaking , either to reach nice places or to make surprise attacks by jumping over a wall. The problem is the scrubs in this game always find a way to pervert a nice concept.
But here is an idea that should screw them up while still keeping that ability to jump high.
Create a second type of jump. Basically you charge it by maintaining pression on X, and you jump when releasing button. The jump height should be like 50% greater ( I don't really know the numbers behind jumping) than a normal jump or maybe just a flat 1m bonus. This super jump empties entirely the stamina bar, or maybe 90% so that you can run and jump once.
Now change myofibril's bonus to improve only the super jump. This would kill jumpers right away and it would also allow sentinels to jump over those stupid steps without using myos. People that want to reach interesting positions or make surprise attacks over walls would still be able to do it. |

Agree except for the arbitrary "kills entire stamina bar" no. You need stamina for SO much if you are speed tanking, it should cost just the same ammount of stamina.
you ever get to that point where you know you should sleep, but ya just...dont? yeah...me too.

This should be considered regardless of whether or not Myos are considered game breaking.
I like using one for mobility on my scout, and wouldn't mind having a suit with 3, however, I lose HP every time I jump with 3. And just because I like being able to reach high places, does not mean I want to every time I jump. I don't need to jump as high as a two story building and take fall damage when all I want to do is jump over a rail...

Actually it's not arbitrary at all, it's to prevent scrubs from jumping again and again. I love kincats I know what you mean, but do you need to run like crazy and jump super high? Maybe 80% of the stamina bar would be better, but it needs to be a high percentage. |

Idk, one solution can be to make one separate mod for jumping which also decrease a % of HP, like energizers do on shields and instead of jump give something useful to myos like increase walking speed.
Regressed to blueberry level.

Have you ever tried power skips? I do them in gym, they tire you out 3-4 times as fast but you jump about twice as high. Such a jump needs momentum. Refer to Minecraft's sprint jump or even Mirror's Edge.

Well, if Myos added to sprinting jumps, and the forward momentum accelerated more than the upward momentum, then it's possible to have myos be what they are now, but with less ability to pull air time and hang/bombard with the mass driver in midair.
Currently the myos do a high jump but don't seem to clear a lot of distance. Hmmm.
I'll come back to this. i think I have something to take to the devs.

Better fix : Can't shoot while you are in the air.
OR : can't shoot if your character is 1m+ from the ground. A normal jump doesn't go over 1meter anyway ^^

I'll come back to this. i think I have something to take to the devs. As a side note, CCP attained the higher jump height by having Myos decrease the player's gravity variable. A more intuitive and realistic (note though, I didn't say "better") method would be to instead increase the initial jump speed.
The present system causes the player to float in air. The downside of this is that more time in air means the player can spam more explosives. Hypothetically though, it's balanced by the player also being more vulnerable in air because they're stuck floating there on a "slow", fixed vector with little-to-no cover.
...just something to think about.

Myros should increase stamina usage for jumping. Getting around is fine, but just bunnyhopping to dodge fire is not.
Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.

Or maybe we could make a jump module that's a low slot,or all these other solutions that involve everything that we've ever discussed. Give up,every time we tty to have this conversation,the forum just runs the thread into the ground with whining,counter ideas,and spam over this and that. Just learn how to aim up. And stop humping people when you shoot them. Especially you rail rifle users. Its utterly stupid watching people get demolished by a jumper because they had stupidly low sensitivity and were trying to give the jumpers a hug.

No, it doesn't if the proposed change is implemented(charge required to get high jump) then anyone with skill should ba able to put up a valid fight. If you kill 80+% of the stamina bar(arbitrary because jumping doesn't take a percentage it takes a flat number hence cardiac regulators, and amar scouts can and should be able to jump more) then you are going to simply kill the myofibs, also does that mean that meleing should take 80% of the stamina bar because you are better at it? What about kincats? Are you going to propose that because they make you harder to hit when you run they should drain stamina faster? No. Jump costs need to remain about the same or else you are gimping an entire playstyle other than jumpy drive spammers.
you ever get to that point where you know you should sleep, but ya just...dont? yeah...me too.

Na if your going to do that have to be fair to all, you ever try to shoot a gun while trying to jump in RL hehe gl it will in some case put you on your rump, so it would be safer to say if you jump no matter how high your toon should stop fire, would stop the bunny hoppers all in their tracks.

isn't bunny hoping just another way of speed tanking? Your just able to move in 1 more axis.
plus if you jump really high your exposing your self to all enemies around you so i don't think this is really necessary. Its almost the same thing in eve online micro warp drive. Makes your sig bigger so you can get hit way easier(excluding speed and distance) but you go way faster.
So i disagree with OP.
