You can research a person's trade history when they trade/sell items on the forums. The forums are also full of people like me who will immediately call out a known scammer when they attempt to post on the forums.

You know, I feel like this is a message that doesn't echo quite as strongly when it's posted on the forums, where pretty much everyone already knows about the trader board. If you could encourage people in-game to hop onto the forums to do their trading, though, that'd be amazing.
But it's an appreciated effort. More people really should check out the trader threads here.

I don't know any trade channels. I have pretty much avoided them like a plague due to all the scamming.
I went to a trade channel one time and before I could even initiate my trade with the person who invited me to the channel I noticed in the chat log someone complaining that they just got scammed out of an APEX Suit. I immediately quit the channel and told the person I was trading with that all trading and selling with me will be handled on the forums. |

I immediately quit the channel and told the person I was trading with that all trading and selling with me will be handled on the forums. Well, that's the thing, though. Even if the trade channels are all backwater, scum of the earth type deals, you don't have to actually deal with anyone in the chat to spread the message that 'hey, if you go on the forums it's a lot safer because there are established traders with easily trackable trade history and who are all very respectable'. Just go in, advertise occasionally, don't actually bother with getting involved in the trading process.

Advertising the trader board in-game for safer transactions also has the added benefit of getting new blood onto the forum in general, which is a plus. Right now we mostly have the exact same people saying the exact same things over and over. Having fresher perspectives, opinions, and ideas could certainly go a long way.
Anyway, I'm off to bed.

Does anyone have a compiles list of the major trade channels? It's a start to advertise honest selling on the official Dust forums. Just let players know with a public service message. It might be seen as spammy from people in those channels, but a lot of those channels are a haven for scammers. If anyone is really pushing back against you letting players know about a safe form of trading, they might be suspect anyways.

Let me be the first break this illusion. The illusion that there is some kind of safety in the forms, the illusion that anything is safe in New Eden. Scamming can and will take place anywhere. Never forget that there is no safe place in New eden. There are safer people to trade with but that safety is only guaranteed if they don't say f*** it all. Caution is the only safety and safety is only guarantee when your cautious.

The use of contracts in EvE effectively eliminates scamming, but I haven't seen any equivalent in Dust. While CCP allows us to give certain items to others, they clearly don't want it to be an easy or safe transaction. Hence player contracts don't appear to exist in Dust. |

STOP GOING TO TRADE CHANNELS! The trade channels are the same, full of people who immediately call out scammers. The people in the trade chats all know each other and know who to trust. There are also several well respected and trusted middlemen on at any given time like myself who will be more than happy to middleman and guarantee a successful trade. Just stay out of the black market. That slum hole is ripe with scammers trying to take your money. As for using the forums. Lol. That's a huge pain in the ass trying to figure out when the person's going to be online. Just stick with the moderated, invite only chats and you're all good. I've traded billions and billions and have never lost more than a few mil here and there to the occasional shady character
