I think we all check the player list before battle at one time or another. I know I do, and I'll usually guess the outcome of the match based on who is there. Most of the time, I'm wrong. Just when I think my team has a talent or numbers advantage, we end up getting waxed. Or, when I think my team is out-gunned pre-match, we end up pulling out a win. Sometimes things go as you expect, and sometimes they don't.
Recently played a match that started 7 on 14 (ended with the same numbers; rare). I totally expected to get my salad tossed because the opposite team had a number and talent advantage. I was lucky enough to be in squad with a pair of mercs who care about winning, and apparently some blues that did, too. We dug that battle out and ended up cloning the other team with 1 tick left on our MCC. Our squad smote 127 clones between the 3 of us. It was one of the most fun battles I've ever had, even though I died 20 times.
And if I had done a head count and left at the beginning like a lot of folks do, I totally would have missed it.
A battle like that atones for several bitter losses.
All I'm saying is, hang in there and see what you've been missing

If the people leaving battles didn't leave battles, we'd have much more balanced matches, it appears I am the only good player in my team sometimes. Today I got 29 kills and 3k WP in the amarr apex logi with stacked krin's damage mods and the council's rep tool with complete noobs on my team and some ADV "stompers" on the other side. We got cloned.
What... 1.3, when?
