Is there a chance that they are going to cut the spawn time down a bit, at the moment it takes that long to get back in the fight, its frustrating.
Game is excellent, I want to see what else they have to offer. No one has said yet if there is going to be a PvE element to the game or if it is purely PvP. |

Personally, I wish they would implement a spawning system like TF2 or more preferably, MAG. The 10 second timer (20 from a Tactical Insert) is fine for me, but the unprotected spawns are horrid. Like this message so I can get a feel for how many of you have died before the black fades away.... ANYWAY.
When you spawn you are immediately vulnerable, even before you have loaded your personal viewpoint, and I cannot count the number of Heavy Machine Guns, Forge Guns, and tanks I have seen for a splitsecond in my greying deathvision. If we had a protected spawning system like MAG, where you spawn to a bunker (Clone Repository), then choose an exit point after surveying the zone, it would go a long way to solving the issue. Also, the rear spawns in the 'facility' segment of a skirmish map should be enclosed, like MAG and TF2 use shutters and/or a bulkhead/risen entry, to protect you from instadeath. And anyone in a Clone Repository when it goes up or swaps allegiance would obviously die, and on a tangent from spawning, the reviving tool should be easier to get, use, and notice, (once again drawing a MAG comparison), throwing it in the face of the players, maybe putting it on the market frontpage, and maybe having some way to tell who has one so you don't kill yourself while bleeding if there is a healer right next to you. I know its still in development, but UI will be key here.
OK, that seems to be everything relating to spawns, now to wait for someone to tear into me like a blood-frenzied shark... |

Well, the biggest problem with Spawns in the build we currently have is that the spawn location itself is Set and very predictable.
Supposedly the E3 update (which we get for next weekend's testing), will include spawning to random locations within a few meters of the spawn point. That should help some, we'll see.
Also, just as an FYI, for some reason any reference to MAG is likely to turn the testers who came from EvE into frothing incoherent masses of rage. Not sure why, but they seem to feel that any suggestion to make the game more FPS-like, or to compare it to an FPS is a pointless move, since Dust is trying to be "so much more" (which I'll grant them it is).
For reference, just read this thread where someone suggested a CTF-like mode (a common staple to most FPSes): https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=22292&find=unread
Bluntly, at the moment, including the word "MAG" in any suggestion seems to lead to a knee jerk reaction against it at this point, rightly or wrongly.
Personally I'm not sure they need protected spawn points, but we'll see how badly spawn points get camped after the new version drops. |
