How do you do the orders (example Defend Target) in a faster way than down on D-pad and up comes map? |

Yes there is.
First, hold down R2. This will bring up the weapon wheel.
Next, press R3. This is the button on your Right Analog stick. (This button is also used to melee as well.)
The orders will come up. From the top and going clockwise they are as follows: 1) Attack 2) Defend 3) Capture 4) Rally 5) Cancel (Only if an order is already issued)
Use the Right Analog stick to select the order of choosing and use R1 to place the order.
Note as well that orders can only be placed on certain items and objects. 1) Attack can only be placed on enemy players, vehicles, and installations. They cannot be placed on enemy objectives. 2) Defend can only be placed on friendly players, vehicles and installations. They can ALSO be placed on friendly held objectives. 3) Capture can only be placed on neutral and enemy objectives. They can also be placed on enemy vehicles and enemy installations. 4) Rally can be placed anywhere, and is a great way to help your team rally to a certain point. 5) Cancel only appears if you have an order active.
Advanced tips: 1) Use the attack order to mark a target that seems to be a bit slippery and try to keep eyes on him. This will flash on the target and continue to flash even if they go around a corner or even cloak. However, if your squad loses eyes on them, after a small amount of time, the order will vanish. 2) Squad orders that are completed give your squad member 10% additional squad points and give you 10% squad leader commission. For example, a kill (+50) will give your squad member an additional 10% (+60 instead) and gives you 10% of the initial objective completed (+10 Squad Lead commission to the squad lead) so be sure to keep those squad orders active! 3) Sometimes I'll use Rally points to point out things that I can't see. For instance, I get hit by a sniper and get into cover. I'll tell my team about the sniper, and additionally use the Rally command to point out the general direction of where I think he is. This way, your teammates can get a better sense of where to look. After the threat has been neutralized or deemed to no longer be a threat, I'll re-issue another order.
Hope this helps!

Also if you want to read on how to be a good squad lead and keep things productive, I loved Fox Gaden's guides on the suits and how to run them with some good setups. Here's his squad lead guide though as well https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=124655&find=unread
Been logi'ing since release. Need to give those needles and self proclaimed king of logi hugs ^-^

What he said.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.

Leading a squad to victory is one of the sweetest aspects of gameplay in Dust514. A few fancy tips for anybody this far down in the newbro area:
Technical: Squad commands and suit commands are separate. Place commands while you reload, for example. Real pro's can place the defend order on themselves. A Wyrikomi needle with a defend order gives a cool 108 wp per revive. Try using the attack order without placing it and see what you see. Small Fluxes can stop large attacks before they begin. If you're dead, you're not placing orders, stay alive. place an order and then que up the attack order so that when you are ambushed you place a marker. people tend to hunt those who wear the double-chevrons. You hack an objective: 50wp, your squaddie hacks and you assist: 95wp to the orbital strike pool: (60+25+10)
Social: Using the commands at your disposal make the game less frustrating by giving players direction in the vast maps. Generally, get your squad together with a few rally orders, then get them fighting with a capture order, once you need to take cover, begin searching for enemies and marking them with attack orders. After you take the objective, place a defend order on it to keep your squad from wandering before the next wave of attack. A squad leader with a laser rifle is essentially pointing out the locations of enemies to a coordinated squad/team. Finding a buddy who will commonly squad with you makes it easier to start squads, you're more likely to get x's when you rf2 than when you rf3 :) Level of investment can break a squad, instruct your mates to 'keep it ADV or below' unless you all agree to go proto (needle and logi reduce the chance of loss) Squads get tired, after 3 consecutive games offer a 5 minute fitting break. If you keep a squad together for 5+ games, you are doing excellent. Synergy is better for WP than meta-level: properly pairing logi/heavy/scout/assault can make for an unstoppable squad that's pouring out WP
Purpose of Strikes: Small Flux: destroying equipment Large Flux: destroying equipment over a large field of play and suppressing shield-tankers Large Warbarge: attacking a large group of infantry Large Laser: destroying tanks, RDV's and installations
