These things are great, each with its own unique role and purpose. In order of GENERAL USE, not specific situation use, I would rank them:
1. Burst
2. Vanilla
3. Breach
4. Tactical
Now note that this is not in order from usefulness in combat, they are all equally useful.
Being an avid GFW player, I would like to add this: Can we have more lp proto weapons in the Gallente FW store? Currently there is only the Tactical and Vanilla/Vanilla Specialist Assault Rifles. It would be nice to have an lp proto burst and proto breach.

My waifu is best.
The burst is kinda weird.
The breach is a scrub gun
And the tactical has wonky stats but still fun to play with.

I'm kinda ties between them all tbh.
It's all situational tho. They are all great and u see the right hands, they can wreck.
Personally, my vanilla assault rifle is my main just because of its versatility in any situation.
I got my tactical and burst on my galmando. Doing so, taking advantage of thier scopes, my commando is a presice tank. With my tactical, I can kill enemies at ranges they did not expect. With the burst, I can dance around heavies, quickly wipe out scouts, and suppress the enemy.
I got my breach in my logi so it can hit hard when needed. It makes use too when entering an area with a heavy. (Breaching)
In my general use, it would be-
Vanilla
Burst
Breach
Tactical
CEO of T-W-L

Breach is the best for me. Though the tac and the burst have a scope, the breach has the best accuracy for the dps it dishes out. Sure the clip size is a ***** but the firepower and accuracy it has brings a tear to my eyes.

I've used the breach with Nk on my scout since i started. When i had no CR to back me up. Not to say it isn't scrubby for sake of polite dissagreement, but I've used it a long time. And I don't think its scrubby.

Depends on how you are playing/the situation you find yourself in.
I have always prefered the Breach on my Assault (after my trigger finger became lazy from using the Tac). It's badass if you get up in someone's face and just lay them down, also good at somewhat of a distance.
I typically use the vanilla AR on my Gal Logi because there is no sidearm so having an larger clip is optimal in that situation.
On my Galmando, the Burst is a powerhouse coupled with the Plasma Cannon. (For a fun Galmando I actually have a shotgun/vanilla AR combo)
And finally, I typically run a shotty on my Scout, however I do have a tankier scout with a Tac AR on it. It's another one of those fun fits when I don't feel like using my shotgun.

I was getting rekt by that damn breach in a pc vs grupo last night. That thing was dropping my gko rattati like it was militia. Still finished 18/6... not too bad. I prefer the vanilla ar in almost all situations though.
My entire dust career can be summed up in one sentence:
"Well, that didn't f#cking go as planned"
