When you go to the 'server select' thing it's not asking you what server you want to play on, it's asking you what group of people you would prefer to be matched up with. You can choose Europe or Japan and still play with full teams of Americans, both northern and southern.

I have preferation on EU and i still see people from another parts of planet. Lagingd and blinking through place, instant kills and istant shields/health up all that in beautifull cover of rubberband web around them. There is reall need for proper lag compensation. I had idea about latency filter, what could be implemented but nobody from CPMs or CCP told anything. It was idea where players will be matchmaked preferably on latency/ping. Ergo ifi will have 400ms to Jose game will put me to different game where i will have for example 40ms against Mark ;) Ofcourse there will be possibilty to go back to Jose (400ms) or Kitano (400+ms), but only if there will be no better way. I don't experience debilitating lag when playing against people from Mexico. I notice lag when playing against certain people from Central/South America and when I find myself in a match that has people from all corners of the Earth. I am all for the removal of selecting which server region you play on because I think a little common sense would tell you that having people from Japan, France, Venezuela, Russia, and America all play in the exact same match will most likely bring about some pretty serious lag.

If joe-blow two states over has a 40gb fat on its last legs, connected to a wicker modem on bamboo wires from backwaterbeetle USA, it will be FAR worse than playing with taro-kun on his good connection half the planet away. We need (have always needed) a ping/latency matching system. With the current size of playerbase however that could be fatal. Unless it knew to go ahead and match bad rates if nobody else was available. In which case we would be back in the same boat. I can't speak for all of Central and South America but when I lived in Honduras the infrastructure for awesome internet was not there; I got my internet through a little USB device I would plug into my laptop. I'm a Caucasian Texan and I am taking extreme offense to your **** talking about them sitting on milk crates and telling them to get a job. When I was in Honduras my friends there had better furniture than most of my friends here in Texas and my Honduran friends worked a hell of a lot harder than the majority of the people I know here in America.
