I know this ship has more than likely sailed, but I think it's something that probably needs to be discussed.
I also know that I might get chafed for bringing this up, but it's become painfully apparent that dust is not being as profitable, which is probably one of the main issues as to why it isn't being ported... or whatever.
Anyway, being a retired bittervet hoping to return when the game isn't so damn laggy, I've had some time to ponder ways to save dust via revenue, among other issues (they won't be profit related... maybe).
Anyway, on to a few issues that can be fixed with good old AUR.
Vehicles
A big issue on vehicles is that the aur variants are garbage. The main reasons pilots don't like AUR vehicles are as follows;
1) forced turrets, we hate them. They take up our fitting space that we need to make a better fit, your ISK variants provide no turrets, so that is why we buy them.
2) lack of vehicle variants. You could have made a whole lot more money with ARX-7 Python than that CD-41 Myron if you released them during the age of pilots. That would also quell a few of the "waaah, CCP doesn't love us pilots" threads, not all, but a few.
3) AUR modules. Just like the infantry have.
Up next is a bit of a weird topic.
Discounts
Basically the issue is that you're not making discounts more often. I'd say at least once a week you should give a mass discount for all weapons and suits of a certain race. Example:
"Today is your lucky day, thrifty shoppers of the glorious golden empire! During this day, all Amarr technology is now 30% off. Visit the marketplace today!"
Each week, you can alternate between races, and throw in vehicle discounts too!
New Player Experience/old vet boredom
Besides lag, and not porting, boredom and frustration are your top game killers.
Think about it, the old vets know how to do stuff and can do near everything. Why? Because we have ungodly amounts of SP and we fling it about like it ain't a thang. The weekly SP had a factor in this, I won't lie (put a little too much IMO). With that, we have nothing we want to invest in, and when we stomp the news, it's because we have know how, and SP. So we stomp them and get unimaginably bored, or frustrated (sometimes all the enemy will do is redline snipe)
On the flip side of the coin, new blood has no know how, and absolutely no SP to rub together. so in other words, they can't learn and they can't get their SP up enough fast enough.
My solution to this may actually also be able to alleviate the gap between vet and noob. I present to you:
SP transfers!!!! The basic way this will work is this:
Buy an SP transfer (I'd say about 10 dollars US is reasonable) Any RESERVE SP you have you can then send to a helpless noob with money, he can then start investing his new SP and start going about shooting peoples.
Issue: This could easily be abused, and getting scammed by vets is a damn good reason to never return to dust. I've got no idea how to implement a safe wall for the new bloods. There should be one though.
Bonus purpose: What if a merc gets tired of his name? Say I don't want to be Derrith, but the true 1st gynecologist Tiberius, I can buy a 20 dollar respec, then a 10 dollar transfer, and I'm the legendary ADS pilot 1st gynecologist Tiberius. And you all just made 30 dollars.
Skins
I honestly think that your adding of new skins and looks may be a major factor of dust lag, but it's a good cash grab nonetheless.
The problem here is that you're only making suit skins. Weapons skins could prove equally if not more profitable, lots of folk would love to have a pure quafe get up.
That's honestly all I have, and I'm pretty sure that I'll be chastised for this by the community, but whatever.

Skins!
.... Do you want to die? Tons of people will start saying "all these skins but no fixes" etc.
But yes, skins... FULLY implemented skins. It's a win win... Fully implemented means less models, and more aur being spent.
Vehicle skins, weapon skins. Heck maybe even equipment skins too... It can actually do so much for Dust.
Next, a dynamic market would be so good. More so to what actual businesses do (imo) : low demand? Lower the price. High demand? Increase our profits. Discounts would start up a dynamic market for dust that can actually take off.
My phone is lagging too much. I must end my post. Come back and 1v1. I miss yu :(

I like the idea of the SP transfer but it is flawed because a new blood may spend it wrong and you also pointed out scams. If they get scammed there most likely just gonna quit there. I think we should honestly have a new blood pick a Race and a Role. This would assign 5-10 million SP into that role. just to get them into advance modules and suits. The rest of the SP they earn could be spent trying out new roles or focusing on the one they have now. If they absolutely hate the role they could make a new character. The trick here is don't give them nothing but mitia gear and let them earn the advanced suits. It will let them feel accomplished but will not be overwhelmed by the veterans. There might be problems with my system Im sure people will point them out.

Separated so I could address them.
Yeah, that's the inherent problem of it. They won't have some way to spend it properly, but I think a good way to circumvent that is to have an in game guide telling them the best ways to invest their SP into what they want to do. That way, they still have a choice.
A decent idea, but will they start off with five to ten mil SP? I may be reading that wrong.
I'm against forcing skills down their throats. overall, it should be up to them, but they should also know what is best to invest.
Agreed.
There are problems with all solutions, so that'll be a given. Still, step in the right direction.

So nice to see u Derrith. Miss u. Some of your ideas are good, but as a woman, 30% off is not a sale. 50-70% off for 1 day only is a sale. Everyone wants a bargain but you have to feel like you stole it. Then brag to all your friends how cheap u got it for. I know guys hate shopping, but when u can do it from your couch...it is less of a chore.
As for the Dropships....I feel for you. They are so easy to take out of the sky. The challenge of the vehicle hunt in the sky has gone. The have made tanks stronger, but to the point of ridiculousness.
I also think the encypter keys should be put on sale every now and then. May I could open 10 or more of my 9000 dam boxes. I have enough boxes to start building a space station.
There are tons of ways for CCP to make a profit. First and foremost....fix matchmaking, lag and frame rate and have a mode that allows players in frontline and militia gear only to go into and experience the game without Proto Stompers and Spawn Campers
More players, more purchases

And I would return, but if I did, I would be one of five relevant pilots. Don't worry, you're one of them.
Also, missed you NIBS!!
And did anyone happen to get my Full Metal Panic reference in the OP?
