I've only managed to get on once in the past two weeks, I think, because I've been havin connectivity issues with PSN. I've got a trade I was intending to complete with Sion I, but I'm not sure when or even if I'll be able to get on to get it to him. If you could do me a huge favor, could you take the ISK he sent me and return it to him? I don't want to ask you to be a taxi service for items, especially since others might expect the same thing and it would be a horrible hassle for you, but I know ISK reimbursement is far more reasonable to ask.
To be clear, I don't want you to complete our trade for us. Just return Sion's ISK so he's not at a loss withe nothing to show for it. Next time I'm able to get on, I'll send him his suit and he can pay me then. If this isn't something you're able to do, that's fine. Figured I could give it a shot o7.

Ahoy!
Sorry to hear what happened - we generally do not really intervene with trading, and even to look into issues like this we would need you to send us a support ticket rather than posting on the Forum. I'm not really supposed to generate tickets like this, but If you'd like me to take a look at this, could you please send us a ticket to [email protected]? Alternatively you could log in with your PSN credentials here, and send us a ticket directly from the character involved in this. Please feel free to simply quote or link this post.
As for the connectivity issues, is your PS3 directly plugged into your router? Using a wired connection might improve performance and avoid packet losses. Also, please try clearing the Saved Data Utility, and to uninstall and reinstall the game to see if that can help. Adjusting your router settings may also help in optimizing performance - please visit this link for a quick guide for the proper router settings. Disabling trophies in your PlayStation Network settings /Trophy Collection> Press Triangle> Set to Offline mode/ may also help.

Okay, so I think I know what my problem is. Figured it out when I went to try to log in with my PSN to file the ticket and it repeatedly told me the connection timed out. I can't access Sony Entertainment at all. I can't log in, I can't connect through my PS3, I can't even visit the Sony Entertainment Network webpage. Something on my end is keeping me from connecting to Sony.
What the hell.
Anyone have any clue what's up? I thought it was just my PS3, but I'm guessing it may be something up with my router now, if even my computer can't access it.

Can't access it from my phone, either, but when I turn off my wifi it works. God damn it, the new router was supposed to help, not **** me over :/.

You may have a firewall issue. Try downloading the Netgear Genie app for your phone (or pc if you have one) and use it to configure some of your settings.
Also, set up your ps3 with a static ip. Something along the lines of this:
IPv4:
IP Address: 192.168.1.2 Subnet: 255.255.255.0 DHCP: 192.168.1.1 DNS Server: 192.168.1.1
Just make sure your IP ends in a different number than your DHCP and DNS, though the DHCP and DNS can be the same.

I really appreciate what you're trying to do, but I haven't so much as tinkered with a computer since 1998, and even then I only took them apart and put them back together. If you could tell me what I need to do to change those settings that'd be amazing. I downloaded Netgear Genie, though, and it actually looks pretty cool. I might be able to understand some of this.

You should be able to log into your Wireless Settings with Admin (username) and admin(password) or the password might be password.
In there you can look at the router settings. ( I can't really remember how they are all set up as I'm at work right now) However, you should be able to see what the IP address is. and as long as it is some variation of 192.168.insertnumber.insertnumber then you can use the subnet of 255.255.255.0 (according to the classful routing rules) I'd suggest just using the numbers i listed above for your ps3 if this is the case.
On your PS3 go to your network settings and set up your network connection (manual or custom) i think it's listed as one of those. Set it up as WPA2 and when prompted to put in your ip address, etc. just put the numbers i listed. You should be all set to go them.
Just don't do the "easy" network setup.

I don't know what ******* dice I rolled, but when I booted up the PS3 to try to configure the settings it actually connected to PSN on start-up and I was able to sign in and give Sion his APEX. God damn that took forever.
Alcina, please, by all means give me whatever instructions you intended to just in case this was only a stroke of luck and I won't be able to sign back in once I turn the PS3 off.
Archduke, you have no idea how much I appreciate your offer of help, and especially how quickly you came by to give it. Thankfully I won't be in need of it, though o7.

Setting Static IP Address:
Turn on PS3 >Settings >Network Settings > Settings and Connection Status List Example Here. Write down those numbers because you will need them for the next step.
Settings >Network Settings >Internet Connection Settings >Custom >Wireless >Scan (Unless you want to Manually Enter your SSID (Wifi Broadcast Name) >Next >WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK > Enter Password >Manual > Enter Your Settings > Just follow rest of prompts (Don't use a Proxy Server and Enable UPnP) Confirm Settings and then you are all set up with a Static IP.
Netgear Genie App has more changable settings on the PC app, but you can change a few things in the mobile app.
Try using a different channel or check your settings to make sure there are no limits set to the amount of data you use and finally make sure that there aren't too many people using your wifi.

Alcina is providing good tips. I'm a neophyte with this stuff too, but with google's help I was able to find decent firmware (3rd party) for my new asus rt-ac87u router and configure my ps3 with a static ip and put it into the dmz for optimal communication. I also set the ps3 to have top priority for traffic so if someone else is watching netflix or youtube vids I don't get lagged out.
It can be a frustrating and time consuming experience but it's well worth it. |
