My main aim is to make pub matches less dull, I have decided to not use really effective fits at the start because I might scare the fight out of the reds. What are some other tips?
Please read the question again before answering,
When I discussed this before many people said "use proto in pubs if you WANT , don't listen to people who cry about it"
they clearly did not read the question. I really WANT to make pubs to be less dull so that means I should not use proto at the start,

Don't use scanners right at the start of a match.
When I used to play Domination anytime I noticed I was going against good players I would start permascanning right at the start of the match to try to get a bunch of redberries to quit that way the good players would be undermanned making it easier for my team to handle them.
Sometimes it's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation though. Scanning might make the redberries quit but not scanning might decrease the confidence your team has in their ability to succeed and therefore they will end up quitting. |

I usually go in with standard guns, APEX/advanced suits, and standard/advanced mods. Pretty much my only proto are codebreakers, uplinks, and rep tools. I had a couple things at proto skill level on my old main, but didn't have any use for anything above advanced unless it was my logi or hacker scout. So if you're feeling bored then just grab an advanced suit and MIx and match your gear.
For more challenge and a huge risk to your K/DR, don't stack as much HP. Pretty much all my fits are movement and support mods. Only my assaults have any HP, and it's mostly armor repairers and reactive plates.
The thought that Dust 514 may one day be the game we dreamed it to be.

I would like to see everyone in starter fits! I think that would show the true abilities of the various players. Good players will still be good. Highly skilled players will still have excellent shields and armour, PG and CPU become irrelevant.
Wouldn't it be great to see everyone fighting in militia gear again? :) |

i like to escalate from mlt bpo to proto depending on what kills me. start off cheap/free and play it like a betting game.
heres some other games for you.
proto hunter - identify and kill only enemy proto/officer suits.
self defence - only kill people that shoot at you first.
Conscientious objector - violence is never the answer, but you must win. (flux allowed)

You want to make the game interesting?
Run a min scout with only breach flaylock pistols.
And then cry when you realize that you can't kill ANYTHING that's even thinking about moving.
