This includes hmg scr ascr and any other gun with heat. If you shoot for sometime and stop, so does the heat bar but then it suddenly jumps up. Whats with that? Is that how heat was supposed to be or is that broken?

It's a strange mechanic and I'm not sure if theres logic behind it or just a side-effect of the netcode. The heat will indeed shoot up if you stop firing for a period of time. It's been documented that those who use modded controllers can effectively fire a weapon like the SCR via turbo and generate less heat than normal with the same number of shots fired.
Personal theory is that heat is generated not during the weapon firing, but during the fire intervals. Which makes sense, right? You've never had a weapon overheat before it completed firing a round, the heat always came after. If another shot is placed downrange, it stops the heat buildup. But it will generate heat inbetween those shots, as well as when the weapon stops firing. As turbo controllers fire incredibly fast, this means less interval and therefore less heat.
My theory, anyway.
Usually banned for being too awesome.

My theory, anyway. It's pretty much 100% based on fire time.
They copy pasted the laser rifle code for heat.

Lol has anyone ever noticed when you are firing an assult hmg that when the heat bar is at 75% that once you stop pulling the trigger and pull it again the gun has a drop in fire rate?
Ha!You can't kill me! I'm already dead!

You can try not resupplying his ammo maybe that might work. Also i know a few people like that IRL so this is barely worth a glance. Acknowledging it usually makes it worse.
To answer OP i think its a broken mechanic that needs tweaking.

It's lag...
Why can't you understand something so simple? IIRC the ping in dust is limited to 200, that's why there's so much lag.
What... 1.3, when?

Yeah, it's sounds really cool. I think it's a bug but you can put lore aspect into it. Like say that once it goes above 75% heat build up and then fire it again, there will be a decreased ROF as a safety feature for the weapon

Is that how heat was supposed to be or is that broken? I think it's just lag. I have noticed the same heat buildup on the installation turrets, particularly the Caldari railguns. You fire, then after the fact, suddenly the heat jumps up, then starts to cool down. You have to take into consideration how far up it will jump when you fire or you overheat. It's definitely well after the fact, about the same sort of time as other lag in the game, for instance, the delay before the bolt pistol starts recharging after firing. The bolt pistol is supposed to fire about twice a second, but only manages about once for me. Lag. That's what I think does it. |
