I recall a CPM member mentioning something on the subject before, but I'd like to know... Would it be feasible if there were portions of Dust that became 'open world'?
I mean this in the context of something like exploring procedurally-generated areas around Districts for drone hives to exterminate, EVE wrecks on planets to salvage from, mining operations, or the like. I know such things wouldn't be possible on the PS3 but I'd be curious to know if any such thing has been discussed or talked about at the higher levels.
Even then, what would the community think of this option?

CCP hasn't even been able to add the Gallente RDV because they hit the limits on the PS3. I don't see it happening on the PS3.
Possible on different tech? Probably but does CCP want to go the route of having procedurally-generated content?

Minecraft can do it on java, so I don't see why it wouldn't be feasible on something like PC. And it's not like you're making an entire procedural generated world, maybe just a large map with defined boundaries (81km x 81km?). It'd be awesome if you had two or more teams that could spawn in on a map and have a Planetside-tier battle to get phat loots off a crashed EVE wreckage, but I'm just dreaming at this point.

Define open world.
A single, sandbox planet? Multiple planets, but with mini-stages? Multiple sandbox planets? All of EVE?

Even then, what would the community think of this option? Depends. If you want open world you would have to sacrifice many things like the world be bland with a very low limit as to what can be on the open world. Currently the game is maxing out on the RAM on the ps3 thus the rendering issues and everything else.. If you want open world maps where you can go from one map to another. It could be done but would you really want that having to sacrifice a lot of the actual content out? Remember that PS3 has certain limitations it can put out, dust unfortunately pushes it to the Max most of the time.
