Sorry, but I don't see how not playing a game for a day shows support for continuing that game. If CCP sees enough profit in it and little enough risk they will make it happen. Striking doesn't show them anything, we don't cut into their profits much and we don't make life difficult for them so it has very little effect, what effect it does have is the opposite of what is needed to enact a port. I think you misunderstand the considerations that a port entails. I think you ignore that Sony is unlikely to allow a partner to take its playerbase and game and simply go to PC, even with a name change, and they probably strongly discourage talking about it. Was it an unqualified success for Sony and CCP? I doubt it, so it is not obvious that a port to the PS 4 will occur. One thing is certain, showing that you are disgruntled will resolve none of the issues preventing a port or the open discussion of it.
Because, that's why.

One thing is certain, showing that you are disgruntled will resolve none of the issues preventing a port or the open discussion of it. You're making an assumption that it will definitely be ported. He has every right to do what he feels is necessary to get CCPs attention, cos we haven't had any actual news about the future of this game as a whole.
I mean sure we get a hotfix every now and then and maybe a patch, but it doesn't answer the long standing question of what they actually plan on doing with the game.
Everyone is knows this game needs a new platform, the community knows it, Rattati knows it, hell I beat even more CCP members know it needs it. If they are indeed working on it great, but the fact remains that we are being kept in the dark by them and it isn't nice.
I'm fully aware that CCP is trying to avoid another Fanfest incident like what happened with legion, but some news wouldn't go amiss. The community is practically begging for it. Regardless of whether or not the boycott achieves anything or not, at least people are trying to force change, rather than sitting in silence hoping CCP might announce something.

This is New Eden, I'd say he is doing a fine job. He had my vote and I'm yet to be disappointed.
I started this thread because I think the strike is stupid. I saw a weakness and plan to exploit it. This is the spirit of new Eden. This is the kind of stuff we are supposed to be doing. This is how you let CCP know you support and enjoy their game and want more in the future.

I have read and reread the CPM job description (found here) and no where in it does it say that CPMs must support player initiatives to boycott the game.

HIT 'EM BOYS!!! ima attack..... saturday morning=chance to get a district. highky unlikely tho cuz no team -_- How petty. I can't help but be amused at this statement coming from someone organising a strike for... what kind of reasons, exactly? We need to let the negative-feedback crowd know what's going on. I can probably get at least 12 goons back to sh*t up districts just for the opportunity to anger people.
Then we organize uplink parties and send dropships flying.
Anyone still have a picture of when Cap Aq took an FA no-show and wrote GG FA in uplinks?
IDC what anyone thinks, that sh*t was hilarious.

Honestly... you guys striking need to be smacked in the ******* mouth. You're taking the hard work of CCP Shanghai, spitting on it, and throwing it in their faces. Because you know, you're not going to hurt anyone BUT Shanghai by doing this, if it even affects anything. CEO of CCP is making jokes about the size of our playerbase at fanfest and you think a fraction of our population not playing for a day is even going to register on his radar. The best thing you can do is keep playing, not the opposite....

The tear factor in this situation is impossible to gauge!
Between the dev blog, our NDA limited cpm's hints, Duke constantly saying he cant talk about any progress (meaning there is some to not talk about), and Frame outright confirming 1.3...
The strike seems to just be a big cry for attention.
If dust didn't have a future this forum would close, dust would close. Why pay a dime to operate something you have given up on? Makes zero business sense.
They can do whatever and not care about PR because eve players gunna play eve. CCP gonna be just fine without us if we all quit. Gunjack and Valkyrie can both flop, and CCP gonna be just fine. A modern company doesn't do something they can't afford to lose. Grow up.
Bottom line is: every time you guys strike, I will stir up a 'counterstrike', as it were. Embracing the sandbox finally.

They basically went and admitted that the Ps3 should never have been the platform they used and decided that the PC would be best without so much as a thought of what the community as a whole wanted.
The announcement itself wasn't the problem. People have always wanted a port but the way it was carried out was a disaster.
