Is anybody keeping track on our illustrious representatives on the council? I noticed Darth had 13 weekly kills as of last night and was thinking it's up to us(the community) to check and see if those who promised so much are still even playing the game they represent. I know they have real lives and can't always be expected to play for 3-4 hours a day, but I think there needs to be a little bit of accountability and activity on their parts. So if you have them on your contacts feel free to post here so we can keep track of those representing our future in this game, this may be the last CPM we have and they could even influence whether this game is continued or continues to see updates and patches. But please be a little kind to them by not saying well it's thursday and 50% of the CPM has zero kills. I think checking on them on a monday or tuesday for weekly stats is a good gauge of activity and what matters is are they playing not if they inflate(or delfate) their k/d(in fact I would prefer they would be challenging themselves and not padding). I know if they are being watched they probably won't be out testing out new suits and vehicle configurations or running solo FWs vs. qsyncs(like good ol' Paulus does) to learn what the solo and new player experience is like, or even actively ringing for PC corps to get a fist hand look at the state of the games most unique and perhaps most important mode(if they contact me I would be glad invite them to Caps PC chat as long as it doesn't cause conflict, or tick off our leadership). Except for Darth they can contact me if they want too discuss the state of the game with someone who actually cares about DUST but doesn't care if CCP declares bankruptcy. Never forget the "Rougewedding" and keep playing this game for free and don't buy stupid stuff from the company that wanted too give up on you years ago. This is our game and we take it and make it ours, until the day the pull the plug and it's the CPMs job to be our voice to those who don't want to here the truth. Believe it or not, on any given normal night I tend to get distracted from any of my gaming intentions by discussions with devs, working on projects and arguing with Aeon.
I'm also sitting on my second PS3 which may or may not be on the verge of death. Kinda hard to tell.
I'm also trying to fish for information and permission to share it.
I mean, I can stop with all of that useless, trying-to-be-constructive sh*t and make sure I always log in every day to make people happy, but I don't think appeasement is why the people who voted for me, elected me. I could be wrong though.

He had the nerve to kick me out of the PC chat that I created because I said DMG should take RGz out of PC(it was a challenge btw that both groups declined which I knew they would). Darth's a k/d padder who I lost respect for by the end of my days in random gunz because I honestly thought he abbandoned RGz and let SOG, DMG, and to a smaller extent your guys and AE take us down(along with the other 5-10 corps that rang against us during about 3 weeks of stacked battles). I played sick the last week everyday but to be honest he wasn't the only one, but it did seem clear to me that he cared more about the CPM than being our CEO and keeping us in the game. But he has some good qualities too and I helped try and bring him and his corp in when I was in leadership in RG, so I respect his ability(he surpasses me by far in skill an talent) you might even say he has more integrity than me for not responding to me and some things I've said (he always did handle stuff like that). So I can see how it might sound like I'm sucking up but trust me it ain't.

TIME PARADOX I think I support the game just buy waiting 8 minutes to get into a skirm in the middle of the day, but I have purchased things before. I think there isn't enough players or things of quality to purchase to save the game or even help develop a port or project legion. In fact I think if this game was making money it still would go to fund other things so why support it. The fact that there is soooo much glitching in the game currently yet they keep putting out new skins to wear in the warbage ever repeating catwalk(seriously I can't walk 10 steps in the barge without it glitching) shows me that there's no desire to fix the game and make it run smoother or they have just quit and don't care and are trying to make a few bucks at the end. So I get why I might seem stuck in a temporal loop but the game keeps functioning worse and worse each hotfix so why would I want to buy stuff from these guys?
I may be being a little melodramatic but really can't imagine these guys aren't laughing at us for spending money on something so broke you can't even leave a battle for 5 mins afterward(Thanks for the eternal victory screen btw it really helps my self esteem until I remember that I can't stop playing a game that is this broke!). I get even by continuing to play and enjoy it for all it's flaws and I suggest you do the same. CCP can't keep me from enjoying it more than any of the other 100+ ps3 game I own, but I won't be a sucker or a fanboy when I see how strong their dedication to EVE is(DUST players should have always got a free special extended length trial, CCP marketing dept). This why so many left after the rougewedding instead of sticking around like I did and having some of the funnest times of my 35 years of gaming on almost every major console. Shoot now I sound like Roman bragging bout his boat, sorry.

Not that I feel it needs explaining but since these threads usually lack critical thinking I'll add a bit of enlightenment here.
Cross and I have school, I have tests all throughout this week and the next. Then Thanksgiving drops and finals immediately after that. Everyone has work and I believe everyone on the CPM has a full time job. We also have real life issues because yanno, that's a thing.
That said, we also spend a lot of time doing CPM work (some of which you'll see relatively soon). Any time CCP is on we're usually talking with them. Being as they're in Shanghai, that usually means staying up late. Really late. So the only time we have left to sleep? Evenings. When we're not at work, not at school, etc.
I won't speak for the others but while I do try to get on as often as I can, it is very difficult to time manage.

I think maybe my point was missed here, I'm trying to say that the people who said they wanted to represent our interest as the DUST community of players should be at least active in the game. I personally just want that to be around 75-100 kills a week but it's not a set thing. I just want to know that the people who may influence whether or not CCP thinks they should try and continue to support this game need to at least be playing a few hours a week.
My intent is not to have another Judge Radamanthus who leaves us when we ask him to lead us. If the CPM doesn't want or desire to fight for us(as they all said they did when they ran) then we really do have a problem. My real concern is I think we are in danger of loosing this game so I have a huge interest in whether or not the CPM is active. I understand they can't be on all day everyday but I don't think it's to much to ask that they try and play a little each week. I didn't run for CPM because I wasn't sure I was able to fulfill these responsibilities. So I hope everybody gets what I'm saying, cause I don't really have any reason to dislike the CPM, but if they want to run off after they committed to do a job then I would certainly have a problem and so should we all. I don't think they have, and as far as I know they aren't shirking their responsibilities, but if the community doesn't keep an eye on them then perhaps they might.
So it's up to those of us who care about this game to keep everybody on their toes(CCP and CPM alike). If we chose not too, the game will continue to be glitchy and unbalanced, a broken masterpiece that never sees it's best days or dies too soon never to be reborn.

You clearly have a personal vendetta against Darth. Settle it in a less public setting, you will get no support here. You know me bro, a lot of people do, as that lovable little jokester, but I do take this game serious and was just trying to be honest. Not trying to get anybodies support in my beef against Darth. We were only close friends who played for 6 months together hanging out and joking and he knows what I think about him. I gave him plenty of opportunity to respond to my mails after I left RGz and I would have stayed his friend and tried to help him and my old corp, but he never responded and eventually unfriended me on PSN.
I actually felt sorry for him because Random Gunz fell apart on his watch as CEO and I continued to recruit new players for them behind the scenes after I left. I still am loyal RGz and ROFL. and even tried to help KEQ with their PC team and rebuilding their classic PC chat. I didn't want to talk about Darth behind his back though, he has some really good qualities too and had he been a tenth as loyal to me as I was to him I would have told him as a brother what I was thinking about him before I left. But for good or bad he never seemed to be comfortable with confrontation which is why I didn't vote for him a CPM.
That also shows I had issues with him long before I left RGz and it wasn't some bad reaction on my part leaving which even some of my close friends had ask me about. I could almost see that RGz was gonna fall apart but no one wanted to believe me but that's another long story that I would rather not go into all the details.

Activity as a CPM is certainly important but it is not the same as player activity. Aside from knowing how the game functions in game activity isn't directly applicable to the duties of a CPM. Forum activity matters more in that regard, and we can include other methods of community interaction in there as well (skype, blogs, Biomassed, e-mail, etc).
Aside from being aware of community input and ideas there is communicating with the Devs and responding to their requests et al. Meetings (mostly informal NDA'ed conversations throughout the week with CCP) are a large part of the time commitment involved in being a CPM.
In the end in game activity, while a decent measure of player activity (presuming that player has no alts ) is virtually useless when it comes to assessing CPM activity levels.
Personally I have run up 17 characters starting in closed beta across all races and roles and on my main alone I have over 100mill SP clocking in between 3-4k hours played. I'm much more likely to play either goofing off with friends or to test builds these days than "serious" play because after organizing matches for awhile I'm pretty burnt out on PC (though I have still been ringing very infrequently) during the last year.
Anyone is welcome to contact me if they have input to provide, both my CPM 1 and CPM 2 campaign platforms have my contact info, out of game e-mail is best due to the frequency and ease with which I can access it compared to other means, but all means will be read eventually.
Cheers, Cross
ps ~ just so we are crystal clear, as I said all throughout the campaign for CPM 2, in game activity has some relevance but even if you could accurately track it (you can't due to alts), in game activity while it holds some relevance is one of the minor aspects of being an effective CPM far overshadowed by being willing and able to communicate with the community and Devs, a lot of which is simply read, reading, and more reading (and the reading from the Devs is the NDA stuff).

The important thing is that the CPM is trying to stay interested in the game, that speaks to where your mind is. Again a few hours a week barring life situations isn't to much to ask though. Why be on the CPM if you don't wanna play? I'm not tracking most of the CPMs and certainly not their alts which is why the subject line of this post has a question mark. If you got a ps3 going out obviously I don't expect you to be playing much(Iv'e owned 5, lost 1 in a flood, traded and upgraded others).
My problem isn't with the CPM it's with the state of the game. How can I trust you to go to bat for the community if you don't even care enough to play the game. But it's good to see so many CPM respond, I would have expected players to comment much more than you guys, I hope that doesn't mean disinterest on our part. Keeping you guys and super hot Zaria active is not my job I was just wondering if you were and if any of the playerbase thought you were. You should be enjoying the game too, and your job too. If you aren't playing at all though then why be on the CPM, that's what I was concerned about. Last I checked you can skype or be on a biomassed podcast with a controller in your hand, so unless your using both hands for "something" trying to fit in a few matches a week shouldn't be too hard. Again all I want to know is that the representative of the game are still interested in the game.
And it's a long time before CPM 3000 so I get to enjoy playing this broken masterpiece without having to be personally responsible for helping fix it, if the CPs are all about that(fixes) I'll be a happy merc. If they aren't then it may not matter cause nobody may be left playing it.

Yeah, no, it doesn't work that way, lol. 9/10 we don't voice chat on Skype so it's either hit up Skype in the debates/conversations on game design or be amazing at one handed typing... which we won't go into =P
Thing is we do a lot more than just deliberate with CCP over Skype. We formulate spreadsheets, proposals, slides, etc. A lot of the stuff I can't really share for obvious reasons but a big one that I can share to give you an idea of how much work goes into one proposal is this spreadsheet regarding the shield changes leading up to Hotfix Foxfour. We didn't spend as much time talking with the community about those changes as we would have liked but we had a deadline to meet if we wanted the changes in the hotfix, otherwise it'd have to wait for Warlords 1.3.
That spreadsheet was mostly formulated by Breakin Stuff and I but it was given a thorough look over by the rest of the CPM while they worked on their own projects (which I obviously can't go into). All of that prior to shipping it off to CCP who we then discussed the changes with and why those changes would work and other changes wouldn't work.
Since that time we've discussed a -LOT- of topics ranging from NPE, to EWAR, to weapon/dropsuit balancing, etc. That's just the stuff that we -can- talk about, even if loosely. The stuff we can't talk about makes up roughly 75% of our work.
We've even gone as far as working with ISD Mercury (the lore team for Eve) to discuss topics in regards to ways to influence the game to be more immersive and lore-savvy. Those changes though are sort of far off because they either require a lot of text (which would need to be localized) or art assets (which is something we just can't do right now). However, you can see some of that work in the recent Blood Raiders event.
So yeah, it takes up a lot of our free time - free time that we previously used to play the game. It's unfortunate but, that's just how it works. Should we leave the CPM because we simply can't offer the time to play the game any more? I don't think so. I think we've all played the game enough to have learned just about everything about it and are qualified enough to operate separate of play. This isn't to justify or excuse our lack of play, just that it isn't wholly necessary for weighing game design =P

That's fair, I'm just looking for activity doesn't have to be a lot. I would hope first and foremost though the vision for the CPM and CCP is #CCPFIXTHISGAME. Yeah don't look for it on twitter cause it ain't a real tag just something I made up a while back. I'm not sure how even possible it is, but the game seems to have problem everytime a hotfix comes out. Foxfour happened and all the sudden the player list doesn't render in the barge immediately and it causes a barge glitch where you walk 5 feet then flash back to where you were then it happens over and over until the whole team appears on the list. The first day of the hotfix people were falling through the barge, so I guess they need proper testing phase before releasing changes to the game. Not your guys fault though.
Thanks though to the CPM for their contributions for real, and CCP may not see the troubles so I hope you guys can help them too.

My activity lately involves building proposal and data spreadsheets, arguing with aeon, arguing with my other three personalities about which of us gets to torture the other CPMs, and talking to my sworn enemies (because it's a comedy goldmine) in the barbershop about scout balance because I feel there are a few things that are buggered there.
My interest doesn't drop, because even when not logged in, DUST presents an interesting challenge.
WoW has taught me that Purple means Legendary. This means Quafe suits are the optimal loadout for killing all of you.

Forum warrior And your point is... Do you have much experience in-game to actually know first-hand what you talk about?
