Well, we got skins before they did. Don't tell them that, though. They think they funded us... hahahaha... oh wait, that was me
Seriously though, and I've told Evesters the same. Are you Eve Universe fanboys, or platform fanboys? We still have to add Minmatar and Amarr vehicles, weapon skins... and Mining
It's all about the beautiful Eve art 'AND' continuity. They can move to as many platforms as they like, and there's no reason to stop our PS3 version... but don't tell them that, they think they've funded us....haha...I'm getting Deja vu |

I do not get why we need mining, we have warbarge here (can be added to that part of dust). But honestly it looks like all our money are put in something else. Im not youngster, i understand they go for easiest way and they want to invest money elsewhere. But honesty we need some progress here too.
Dust needs fixes. Dust needs optimization. Dust needs new implementations.
Core mechanics should be upgraded and make better.
LAG should be fixed. Server should be put directly by players location. Framerates should be improved through better engine optimization.
All these core thingies can be covered. And honestly after article, where CCP openly admit Dust like moneymaker?! I will expect some more love for sure.
Issue is not about platform here. Major issue is they looks like they do not want to touch that. I do not know why?
If ratatta man is that dedicated to make game better that should not be a issue. Just make trello ono to parts where one woll be technical part (lag issues, frame rate issues, disconnects, freezes/important thingies) and other ads to game (skins, market/ any other not so much important thingie).
BEFORE YOU START WITH PS3 IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH!!
+There is game called Destiny where implements (events, fixes and dlcs) are posible in no time. +Or GTA where you can ad even your race on realtime map. +Starhawks have realtime building by your choice. +Borderlands and Skyrim realtime respawn and levelation of enemies depending on your level. +Even really old motorstorm 3 you have fully colapsing map (buldings/engine) what was framedrop (and on multiplayer lag free) and that race maps were multilevel ones and really big ones.
ERGO
I DEFO not see issues with Ps3 and its memory, issue will be somewhere in team.
And
I get it it is hard to change/fix something.
But
If it is possible somwhere else, why it is not possible in Dust?
I think we can figure out the answer ;)

O.k, I was kidding about the mining. I went back to Eve for that. It's damn relaxing and I ain't exchangin' ****... anyway, skins are the first step to player customization. The Holy Grail of multiplayer gaming. Speaking of blaspemy, have you seen the new Star Wars game? All vehicles are white. From your PS3 menu, go to :- Settings> Game Settings> PS-Upscaler... and change to Full Screen. Dust looks awesome. Pass it on. |

Their poor copying of a free to play model in the start of the game lead to much lower than expected revenues causing expenditures on the game to go down leading to even less revenues until ultimately we reached the Legion announcement.
Enter Rattati.
Legion backlash wakes CCP and makes them realize that not only are console players going to refuse to follow a game to PC but they are also going to abandon you for back tracking on the so called future that was spoken of so much prior to said announcement.
Rattati does the common sense thing and instead of stopping progression on something because it may hurt a future idea, properly monetizes the game in the way that most free to play games do just to get revenues up and gets development happening. Unfortunately this came after much of the Dust team had been stripped away and many of the dedicated players had been run off.
Anyone that was part of the original management and of the marketing team should be sent back to intern status. Without trying to sound too harsh they set an absolute model for screw ups.
Now that Dust is generating proper revenue CCP is farming all the money they can here while avoiding a port announcement in an effort to avoid unnecessary debt and out of fear of another community rage by people that do not have PS4s already. This is from the fact that their marketing team is still playing the blame game on why the Legion announcement blew up in their face so miserably.
Unfortunately this unwillingness to speak is only hurting their future chances as players who once dumped tons of money into this game are moving on most likely to never be seen again because of silence about any future along with constantly using the PS3 as a scapegoat instead of owning up to what was a very bad start to this game with no real optimizations going on and everything being a cluster **** from all the code being built around "what we are going to do" instead of just developing the game to get it to grow and eventually do what they dream of.
Feel free to tell me where I am wrong in my above assumptions.

I'm all for a PC port*. I love the idea and I think it's a great step forward for us. That being said, the way the Legion announcement was handled was amateur hour bush league poop. It should have been done via a series of devblogs, Q&A sessions, and youtube videos posted on the forums. That would have allowed the public to slowly become acclimated to the idea of Legion and ask questions.
*: I also support a PC/PS4 port, if it is technically feasible. I recognize that PC is the best step forward, but offering DUST on the PS4 would allow us to preserve our console players which is nice.
Addendum: I own a PS4 so either way, I'm going to be playing DUST on a current gen platform.

I would believe that they were let go because that was just plain a disaster.
I am not sure CCP would want CPM airing out peoples employment status but that's whatever.
While I am impartial on the platform I think PS4 is the way to go for this game. While it is not the most massive base a base has been built on console. Continuing to make money from console players as oppose to just dividing the player base of your flagship game and hoping for a few console players to totally change their way of gaming seems like the right choice.
My PC has been ready to go since far before the Legion announcement and my PS4 literally arrives in a few hours. I just know that a lot of my friends in this game would be far more likely to follow to PS4 as oppose to PC and I would really prefer keeping as much of the community intact.

deezy dabest wrote:dividing the player base of your flagship game and hoping for a few console players to totally change their way of gaming seems like the right choice. First, the idea of "dividing your player base"... In Eve there are lulls in gameplay. Depending on what profession you are taking part in, these lulls can be quite frequent. For example, when you are space trucking through high security space for 30+ jumps in a clumsy, slow industrial ship you are in for a long wait. During that time the player could play DUST instead of browsing the internet or whatever.
Basically, you take a break from playing one CCP game to play another CCP game. In either case you are increasing CCP's potential revenue if you spend money. From launch day of DUST (PC) they would begin with the Eve players AND the Dust players who have PCs; that is a sizable day 1 player base. Add to that the massive size of the PC market and it's brilliant from a business standpoint.
Second, the logical fallacy that there are either console gamers or PC gamers. There was a time about a 10 - 15 years ago when you would probably be right about this. People only had the money to own either a PC or a console. Now, with the price of PCs decreasing and console games being available cheaply via digital distribution, it's not uncommon at all for someone to own a PS4 and a decent PC gaming rig.

Fallacy shmallacy....
There are people who just game on consoles and just game on PC. And you know what? It's not uncommon at all for someone to stick with just a singular platform.
And from what I see, sticking with a single platform is because owning multiple... well...
Or if not that, then at least in the US, wages have stagnated, cost of living hasn't been decreasing much, job market often sucks, kids are expensive, retirement saving is [or should be] a higher priority, or a myriad of other factors that would discourage owning multiple platforms that serve the same damn function.

There are still gamers who only have one platform; I get that. I never argued that those gamers don't exist. I am saying that people who own a console and gaming PC are more common than they were in years prior.

You are correct.
Some people prefer having the higher resolutions and what not of PC.
Some people prefer the more casual laid back nature of consoles.
Some people have both.
People sticking very religiously to one platform is not uncommon what so ever.

1) There's also a "fallacy fallacy," and given how irrelevant the "false dilemma" was in your statement (calling out a fallacy and not even bothering to extrapolate), it seemed like you were using it.
2) Not what I said. Not even close. Never once did i mention "free time." It seems you misinterpreted the meme. To put it in plainer English: Too many great games, not enough time to play them all.

We still have here LAG and frame drops. And honestly it looks like we stops on skins only updates.
Tell me why we cannot have new weapon models if we can have new skins? Why we cannot have new tanks/Lavs/DPs when we can have payable skins?
There is so much to improve and CCP team really stuck on playing tenis with stats and making new colors for skins? C-¦mon why the is improve in different piece of game and no push for optimization here?
We need some improvements too.
There wa message some time about new server infrastructure and what we can see now in game?
Blackscreens, LAG (again honestly on your servers, the lag and rubbers are like on P2P structure) and many many other thingies to fix.
After all that years, after all that articles how everything will be better and improved. Still stucked here and still without anything properly progresive.
Ratatti honestly few new skins will make you some money, but do not fix game. It isa end of another year and what we saw.
Some balancing (again and again issues with it), new skins (oki good) but other thingies are still lost somewhere.
LAG the major issue of game is still in game. New bugs (just wow i did not expect this one). No proper new adition to game.
Ergo
Another lost years for dust. Gujack have love. Eve have love. Valkyrie have love. Dust 2.0/Legion (lost somewhere in time ergo nothing there)
And
Our beloved Dust 514 is still somehow better factory for skin.
Honestly boykos i saw better usage of engine in older games on Ps3. Ergo nonsence about ps3 and how terrible it is system is nonsensical here. Dust making money = DUST NEED LOVE TOO!!
CCP c-¦mon try to do thing better. LAG fixes. Better engine optimizations. New things like racial models.
Skins will not make game better.
I feel you bro, i feel you.
Even if it was a little hard to read.

Good points and to addGǪ rightfully, you should market a game to the adults who usually hold the pocketbooks. Little tme, not the best of health, but money to blow.
At this point it is Valkyrie or bust. They screw up another effort and they will be destined to sit on EVE and its entrenched coalition minded nerdcorps to keep them afloat.
Make Valkyerie work and then make announcements toward the next effort of DUST.

Honestly two years gone and still same issues with servers, framerates, invisible walls, ghosts, undermap glitches etc. And i do not want to take up the holes in games, like treir tries to cover missing weapon pieces by unification of pieces what we have. Instead of this cheap way, they should take a look on to team and ask themselves if they really want fix it.
