Greetings Dust soldiers,
A while ago I picked up Dust and started playing it. I quickly found out that a FPS with a controller is simply not something meant for me. I still very much like the concept of Dust and its link with EVE. Because of this I want to get into Orbital strike support. There is sadly very little information about this feature. Piecing together what I could find I have joined Factional Warfare and loaded up a ship to shoot at planets.
The problem I see now however, is the where and who. I am enlisted to Amarr FW (Amarr & Caldari) and have flown around some FW systems but no where I can find orbital beacons/satelitles.
In short:
I am looking for Amarr/Caldari mercs who could use orbital strike support during their battles. Is there a channel for this? Or can I join the corporation of one you guys? Is there interest for this?
Feel free to convo/mail me on Eyon Vondawn
Something extra: How is the experience from a Dust soldier when an EVE capsuleer provides orbital support? Do you like it? Is it helpful?

First of all you can only get battle locations from Dust players.
Once you get these locations the process is quite simple:
Fly to the system.
Right click in space.
Select planets then the planet number you were given.
Select districts then the district number you were given.
Select warp to zero.
Upon landing look down at the planet and move your mouse around for the circle which will say "connect to district" on your screen when you hover over it. Click inside of that circle on the planet.
Look around in space for the timer which is attached to the district satellite. This will tell you when an orbital is available.
Once it is available you must wait for a Dust player to call it in. This is the hard part.
When a Dust player selects a location they will show up as a target in your targeting system.
Ensuring that all of your guns are grouped press fire and wait for the timer to run down again.
It is something that is a bit tough the first few times and near impossible if you are not in good communication with the Dust players involved.

Quick overview
Setup OB ship, more turrets = more damage so destroyers are best, Catalyst or Coercer. Lasers are preferred as the have a smaller target area but greater damage, this helps avoid friendly fire which can cause squad leaders to get kicked from battle and lose faction standing
To find an active battle, join a FW channel (below) and offer OB support. They can advise the planet and district
Pie ground control = Amarr Lucent Echelon = Gallente State Task force = Caldari I can't remember the Minmatar
Warp to district and connect, this starts a 3 minute timer, once the timer is up squad leaders in match can request an OB, this shows up a target icon in EVE that you can fire on (ensure your turrets are grouped). after firing the timer begins again
If you're connected to a district you show up on the overview so keep a lookout in local

Yes, you have to be signed up with the respective militias (or aligned Corp)
Also, FW is not always up in Dust, 2 hours before DT and 3-4 hours afterwards it's really difficult to get a match
