Ccp, Please extend the academy for new players
Here's my proposal on how to do it so the newbies don't get stomped by veteran alts.
Create additional tiers to the academy, with tier one being identical to the current academy. Tier one is where the newbies get the hang of the controls and begin developing map awareness and muscle memory.
The newbies eventually graduate the tier one academy, this proposal places them into tier two academy - no change to the academy button in battle finder - it simply ques the advanced newbie into tier two academy. Tier two academy is twice as long as tier one academy. This is to help the rookie learn the maps, ewar mechanics and fitting skills in a forgiving environment.
The rookies graduate tier two academy and are placed into tier three academy. Tier three academy is twice as long as tier two academy. During the rookies' time in tier three academy they will have time to further develop fitting skills and friendships with their fellow newbies, building their emotional investment in the game. This is when they will spend their first cash for aur or respecs.
Upon graduating the three academys the new player is placed in the rookie League for one week to determine skill - however, if a veteran is in his fire team, he ques veteran League instead.
This proposal smooths the new players' transition into dust 514 and brings about a vast rise in the quality of players being fielded.

These are new players, they aren't part of the player base, extending the academy will only cause the current player base to grow as the graduates are added. Currently, graduates get torn to pieces the moment they are out and quit dust forever. With the proposal, the improved graduates will be emotionally invested in dust and will be competent enough to contribute. They will stay and grow the player base, they will spend money, they will be what will bring about a port

I think the training grounds should be available until lifetime kdr reaches 2.0 or 3.0 even 5.0, that would clear a vet's alt out in match 1. And let noobs stay longer. Either that or just raise the wp cap to 5x what it is. Breaking up noobs into multiple training areas would just make it worse with how few players we have

I havn't been there since this character was born, but from what a lot of people tell me the academy is actually quite well populated. They only start dropping like flies once they get into 'normal' pubs.
Something is killing new player retention.

I never want to hear such a thing again
