Cypher's Personal Mission

With all this talk of NPE, New Mercs vs Vets, Militia vs Officer, Rich vs Poor and BlahBluhBruhBruhBruh I've decided to use the skill point refund from the upcoming event to travel back in time with my beloved by all Ahkhomi Cypher. My plan for this first of hopefully many CPMs is to reset my skill tree and slowly spend my SP over time.
On reset I'm going to spend 5m SP and stop. 5m to start was chosen because I feel like that's just about where a new player would be at after they've kinda learned how Dust's fitting system works. With that done I'm only gonna be spending about 1m sp per day. Will I go over 1m a couple of times? Probably, but I'll legitimately try not to and if I do it wont be much. This is for fun. Not super serious research.

MMMMMmmm ISK. I'm not broke and I have lots of BPO/AUR items to use. I also know that managing isk is very important to new mercs and starting with what I have now sorta takes that out of the experience. So for this I'll transfer ALL of my ISK and APEX/BPO items to a bank alt. Templar/Quafe(HMG/PLC) isn't tradeable so I'll keep and use that if I've skilled it to ADV. I'll also take my APEX suits back if I get that suit to PRO.
None of this is set in stone so I may change things around but I'll try to keep to the spirit of the mission. If any of you other Vets would like to try this CPM out let me know. This could be fun. Could also be terrible.

Pretty cool initiative. Will jump into OA chat.
1m SP/day is a bit optimistic if you're trying to emulate a new player. They get up to 750k/week, but realistically they don't get there. Being able to unlock more powerful stat modifiers and new toys at a good rate will always keep a new player playing. I know, I know. Not super serious research. Still. That's like 10x the SP gains. And 5m starting SP? That's easily more than a month of pretty constant play. If a new player has made it that far they're probably over the attrition hurdle. You mention getting rid of your ISK and BPO stuff, but what about your normal stuff? I guess that's going as well because you said 'I also know that managing isk is very important to new mercs'.
I dunno bruh, it just feels like you're setting yourself up to be able to say that the NPE is fine. Also, if you really wanna see what the NPE is like, why go to all this trouble when you can just roll up a new character and not transfer them anything? Then all you have to negate is your existing game-knowledge. Maybe cover up the tacnet with masking tape and turn your brighness waaaaaay down.

To add to what I said, if you manage to get the few other OA guys you normally run with to do this, forget about comparing it to the NPE. Well-oiled-machine doesn't even begin to describe you guys.

Sorry that did come off as a bit too critical. I guess you're looking at how the NPE could be if it was fixed up a bunch?

Not really. More of a "if i could do it all again" thing. Reliving my own dust life kinda sorta. Just accelerated. It's more about me really then a experimentation in the current NPE. My game knowledge, MU and contacts together and separately ruin any chance of me really experiencing that again.

I see a new player gathering up to around 100k SP a day, if they're lucky.
They don't know what they're doing, they don't know how to navigate the complexity of the game, nor do they know 'hidden stats' as well as we do. By hidden stats, I mean things like range and weapon profiles; things like that.
Second, I don't think they'd stick around much once they get thrown out of Academy. The more stubborn ones will stay, sure, but I doubt any merc who's healthy of the mind will stay and try to make more than 100k/a day.
Third, as Shaun pointed out, a character may only collect up to 750k of bonus SP per WEEK, let alone per day. Daily missions, warbarge, and whatever won't get you very far either. Boosters MAY help with that, but you'll need some really good games with the gear you'll get at such low levels.
Anywho, instead of starting at 5 mil sp, I think you should spend just enough to unlock STD racial items, like eve. For example, your character is Minmatar. Spend just enough to unlock Minmatar Assault and Minmatar Logistics, coupled with a STD rep tool and needle and a STD CR, SMG, and Flaylock,and maybe put a point of two in Heavy and Light Frames for Minmatar.

Yep, took Minlogi straight to proto without any core skills. I have my rep tool which is required. STD nanos aren't terrible. Uplinks at 3 but I'll push that to 4 for N11s tomorrow. RE's to kill stuff because my ACR can't **** with Cal Assaults yet.
As of now Im running a stock Shaman with REs replacing the needle and a SixKin Rep Tool. Probably gonna run a militia ARR until i can beef up my CR. Or Shotgun. Meh.
Ran a couple matches and I'm doing okay so far. In ambush I have to actually be a Logi though. Definitely don't have the DPS or tank to slay the way I want to in that mode.
I'll enter my skills into Protofits later to see how much of the initial 5mil sp i used up. Probably went over. Meh.
