We know for a fact that this is something the majority of the DUST 514 player base wants, and has been asking for ever since the first respec ever happened. Naturally there will be players who don't need this, sure. You can keep it as a souvenir or you can chose not to participate...
Also, it's quite clear that no matter what event or update we do, there will be players who disagree, or complain. Anyhoo, this is for the greater good. The worst part of this event is that many who actually need the skill reset can't even get it because stupid black screens, lag everywhere, and we have lives too. Why can't we have a freeeeeeeeee respec???????? Why does school start so early??? a bit later and I could possibly get that respec.
Have you gone to the weekly leaderboards to see how many kills you have for the current week? Doing that will help put into perspective how easy or difficult completing this event will be for you. |

As a player nearing 100mil sp I'm in no need for a skill tree reset as I have pretty much all I need. Yes I am speced into the amarr lift frame and scout but as it's skill is nothing outstanding rarly see it on the battle field.
All this event will achieve is property getting.g respects and people running around in a very underpowered suit
So are you suggesting CPM should take a look at the Amarr Scout Suit bonus? |

TBH though, you should reset certain skills automatically when you completely change bonuses etc. Eg. Recent changes with Minmando bonuses and swarms People shouldn't have to pay for a respec in those situations.
No one is making anyone pay for a respec. |

Obviously you're unemployed and your time is worth nothing?
I'm not unemployed, I am at work right now.
As for my time, when I first started playing this game after looking at the 'skill tree' I immediately knew SP management was very important and so I managed my SP very well. I do value my time and that is why I made sure not to screw up my SP investment. |

I'll go back to the Minmando issue, only reason I skilled Minmando was for the bonus to swarms - now after foxfour that bonus has gone to the Calmando?
I have neither the time or the inclination to grind 514 kills (I've played approx 6 matches since beginning of September) and I certainly wouldn't pay for a respec - how long will it take me using passive SP to skill up Calmando lvl 5? And whose to say that after I do that the bonus doesn't get moved to another suit?
Archduke made the comment that they get a lot of tickets requesting respecs - they would get less requests if they behaved reasonably in these situations and refunded skill trees when they made fundamental changes to suit bonuses etc.
Hold up. You have only averaged playing one match a week for the past month-and-a-half? Don't expect to accomplish much in this game if you are going to play it so infrequently.
If you want Calmando Level 5 using nothing but Passive SP it will take you a long time and it should take you a long time. You don't easily skill up to the best of something particular in this game by not making a committed effort.
I'm not sure what all to say without risking coming off as a complete *******. Play the game more and learn to use more than just Swarm Launchers. |

Also, it's quite clear that no matter what event or update we do, there will be players who disagree, or complain. Anyhoo, this is for the greater good. I was trying my best not to say this, but I really do think 514 kills is too much. At least for me. People are pretty busy, and taking time from their lives just for a skill tree respec that sounds REALLY GOOD, seems impossible to those who have no time on their hands. I dunno what else to say, because that is the gist of my argument. I get the challenging part of the event, but it just seems too exclusive for those who are able to play a lot for that 7 day range. Just an idea, feel free to criticize: Maybe base the next event's grand reward on WP (war points)? It may seem too logi rich, but to be honest, you don't see people tryharding their ***** off to use officer logi. Most of the time, I'd say they'd use officer assault, to get people off of objectives, push, and hold. Logi's can't do that, they can keep the team alive, regardless of how efficient the gear your teammates are running. I don't see much people running logi in pubs, so I guess it would be a fair alternative instead of pure assault. Do you kind of get what I'm saying? Make WP a thing, so we can see an increase in logis to keep assaults or heavies still in line. My opinion is there are too little logis running out there. Of course, too many logis and you have a broken team. Healers healing healers, not very good. But assaults can get WP too. IDK, if you have any refutes, please tell me. I would like to see the side I am missing. 514 kills is a bit steep. I know it's the name of the game but I wondered if they ever checked to see how many people hit the ~75 kills/day to actually reach it? Even if they pulled data from the last event where people were killing for a prize. I'm a logi, and that's the choice I make as a player. I'll never get upset about slayer-only events, even if my role - when done properly - will prevent the community reaching the goal. But slaying isn't the only play-style, and kills aren't the only way you can measure participation. It would be nice to see an event that didn't reward kills specifically, but some other metric. WP would be great for that.
I understand what you are saying but I should point out that not too long ago we had an event that catered to more than just the Assault Players.
You remember the event where we had to hack a bunch of objectives, destroy a bunch of installations, and do some other stuff? That event stands out to me right now because the hacking-portion of that event truly introduced me to the awesomeness of the GalScout and allowed me to realize that I do pretty damn well at Ninja Hacking in Skirmish matches.
Not all events are going to be able to cater to every role. If this particular event doesn't work for your playstyle then just simply hope the next event does.
The best thing to do is to start suggesting new event ideas that cater to specific roles.
-or-
Go all SlayerLogi with your Logi Suit or put the Logi Suit away and use another role for the event. You need to diversify your capabilities in this game; this event might be the opportunity to help you do that.

While I do not agree with everything you say, I do agree that when such a drastic change is made like the swarm then a respec of minmando should be done automatically. So to elaborate, swarm bonus removed from minmando then respect everyone their minmando sp and costs. If this is done their is no bases for complaints and it is fair. If you want to keep minmando then just skill it back up, those who only skilled into it for the swarm could now skill up to calmando and no problems for anyone.
This would work for everything and stop the crying.
If CCP has the ability to issue tokens for a respec then they should be able to issue a token for the minmando with a 7 day expiration period. That would allow people to keep playing and if they don't like the change for minmando then they use the token but they have to make their mind up in the next 7 days.
How could anyone ***** about something like this?
Change Hav's, play for next week if you don't like it then use your token. Change AV give tokens ot AV and vehicles.
The game gets to move forward and people don't feel ripped off.[/quote]
This is a pretty good idea right here. I like it. +1 |

Not all events are going to be able to cater to every role. If this particular event doesn't work for your playstyle then just simply hope the next event does. Cool cool, I don't think I was around for that event. The recent ones that come to mind are the two x million clone challenges (100% slayer), Amarr challenge (wp, kills, finish battles for increasingly better minor prizes in that order, win battles for major prize) and this Blood Raider one (wins for minor prize, kills for major prize). Recently it seems slanted towards slaying but historically I'm sure it's not. I really am holding out for the next few challenges that aren't centered around kills.
I think the biggest limitation on events might be what CCP is easily able to keep stats on.
I'm not sure how they have everything set up but I know if you put in a request to view your lifetime personal stats Archduke is readily able to provide you with your lifetime 1) kill assists, 2) kill assists in vehicles, 3) kills, 4) match wins, and 5) objectives hacked (there are some other stats that are provided such as matches lost, suicides, and deaths but I don't think an event focused around those stats would be a good idea).
Ideas for events centered around those 5 stats I feel would most likely be the easiest events to come to fruition.
I personally would like to see an event that focuses on achieving Objective Defense WPs because I feel that would be a good event for Sentinels. Whether or not the DEVs are able to easily keep track of something like Objective Defense WPs is something I don't know.
I would also like if there was an event that focused on earning Triage WPs because I think that would be a good event for Logis.
If the DEVs are able to keep track of kills with Head Shots then I think an event focused around that would be good for Snipers.
Again though, I have no idea what the DEVs or the CPM are easily able to do when it comes to events. |
