Disclaimer! Some Scrub Moves Held Within!
This is a public service for low SP players attempting to get the skill respec token but don't feel like they have a good chance at managing it in the time allotted. Of course running in a squad and working together will always increase your chances of doing well, but hopefully these tips will help you ensure you manage the number of kills needed to get your respec token despite the coming onslaught of officer gear you are about to face:
- I must recommend (MLT if need be) either mass drivers for kill stealing or PLC for insta-ganks. Carry hives to resupply yourself and try your best to stick with the blob or try to maintain high ground near the blob as that makes it infinitely easier to aim both weapons.
- Shotty scouts are always a winner for getting fast kills against most single targets, but with perma scans and officer gear everywhere you may just want to be careful about sticking to this fit. Switch up as you see the need for it.
- If you are spawning into a heavily contested area, it might be best to come in with a very tanky heavy suit with a HMG. If you have access to the Assault HMG it may be the better option, especially if there are vehicles or if the enemy has some range on your spawn point.
- If you don't mind being a bit slow, run an armor laden suit with 1-2 damage mods and shields in whatever high slots you have left. Be sure to have one armor repair module just in case you DO survive an engagement and use whatever sidearm you are most comfortable using. Brick yourself as much as possible while maximizing your damage output.
- Spam lots and LOTS of locus grenades towards any reds you see when near a supply depot. The recent grenade buff may just score you a few kills. Non-scrubby bit: If you have time, try cooking the grenade and attempting to throw it where you think the enemy will be when it blows up. Might be worthwhile to spend the next few days before the event practicing cooking grenades and timing them just right. Learn how long they cook and how fast they travel once thrown, this is a very effective skill to have in your back pocket.
- If you see that the enemy is camping the high points, don't keep rushing in to get yourself killed. Even if you're running free gear, you are getting nothing done but padding the other team's stats. Try to snipe them, try to crush them with a MLT dropship, try to spam PLC or forge gun rounds at them, try to find a higher point from which to rain hell upon them, but for crying out loud: STOP BEING MINDLESS LITTLE POINT FARMS FOR THE ENEMY. It does nothing but reduce the clone count faster, give you less time spawned into the match so you have fewer chances to kill, and doesn't do a thing to help your team win.
Hopefully you will manage your kills and destroy a lot of officer gear in the process. Good luck out there o7
Edit: IMPORTANT NOTE TO NEWER PLAYERS! If you haven't completely screwed your SP up in a massive way (like having 10 Mil in stuff you have no need for), you may want to save this respec token until you can make better use of it just in case down the road you really need it but don't have the money for another respec. Also, this will give you the opportunity to spec into anything you think looks interesting right now and later respend all of those points on what you feel is best for you.

Lol nice tips dude - but I think the best thing for players like myself is to not worry about the kills. I know there isn't enough time for me to get on for 2-3 hours a day. So instead of kills, I'm hoping to rack up some good SP and ISK from supporting my teammates who are trying to get the kills. |

It's really nice from you to do this, but I honestly don't think that new players go on the forums...

I've seen a few people who've posted recently who claim to be new-ish. If these tips help anyone fight off the officer spam, even a bit, then I will be satisfied. If it helps anyone to get their respec, then all the better.

But these tips are generally good for anyone who is attempting to combat a flood of officer gear without a lot of SP backing them so I'm hoping it might help some people fight back rather than leaving matches.

As a returning player who started from scratch, I can agree that high alpha is the best way to ensure kills on vets or tanked players. Shotgun, PLC, and forge are all great weapons that can potentially 1 shot players.
The only gun on your list that I wouldn't recommend is the mass driver. The PLC opens up the option for AV and can take out a LAV that isn't armored or deter tanks from trying to bank some easy blaster kills. I like my mass driver, but it's more of a support weapon in my opinion. |

New players having issues with whittling down enemies can use it to snag weak enemies trying to flee or pop off the last health of an enemy who's hp is being knocked down by a higher SP player. Apart from those particular uses, it is almost entirely a support weapon.
I'm just really hoping to see some low SP characters go Jackie Chan on some officer gear.
