It took me many months to get to 100 million. Once player trade came = I bought a lot of items, Apex, and weapons. I also managed to sell a lot of crap (Officer crap). Now I dont have much but I'm happy to own the Amarr Vx.1 Apex Scout

Because they can convince themselves that they aren't dealing with real people or causing someone real grief due to the limitations of electronic media.
Its generally the same thing with trolls. On occasion, when people are forced to say/defend in person the same things they say online, they can't do it.
Of course there are always a small number of people who simply lack any fragment of humanity.

I'm not saying I scam but I can however see why they do it. Think about it:
Your trading (1) 7 day booster you bought for 7,000,000.00 Isk. Your selling the item for 14,000,000.00 isk. Your making a 50 % profit at the cost of finding the buyer. So you have to find the buyer and talk the price, and your spending isk trying to get the item.
For scammers its just 100% profit. Fast cash, and easy to obtain off of other people. All you gotta do is sound/act legit when scamming.
If I charge, follow me. If I retreat, kill me. If I die, revenge me.
I'm really hard headed

From the name of the thread, I thought it was going to be a musical parody of "Call me, maybe"...
Scamming people in these games comes from one of a few places: 1. They don't equate 'Joseph Ridgeson' with a real person. This is kind of the same reason why you have the COD 11 year olds stating they have had sexual relations with your mother. Why feel bad that you steal something from someone that doesn't exist? 2. It is in the excitement of it. Similarly to dominating someone in a match, this is basically another way to trick people. It is seen entirely as "it is just in the game." 3. Some of it is done maliciously. 4. "Ends justify the means." "I got 10,000,000 isk for nothing."
There are varying levels of scam that people can accept, interestingly.
I, for example, would have little problem selling X for well above the standard price if the person agreed to it. Is this a scam? Does the person know that I am selling X far above usual price? It is taking advantage of them but how badly are they getting screwed? However, I just really couldn't do the "okay, thanks for the money I'ma keep X."
Even in the case where I was selling X for twice the price, I would feel like absolute s**t if I just kept the money and item for an item sold at market price. Does this make sense, though? In the end, the person is just out the same amount of money so isn't one just as bad?
Not to me. It is one thing for someone to "not get a bad deal" and it is another thing for some "to get absolutely no deal at all."
"This is B.S! This is B.S! I paid money! Cash money, dollars money, cash money!"

Being a scammer, which I could never be, accepts being the bottom feeder taking advantage of people's trust, some can and some just cant. Its not so much maturity, which I mentioned before the eddit, but mindset. Some people prey on the weak or foolish others try to protect and educate them. |

This isn't even a scam so much a lack of buyer research, if someone is willing to pay that much and you have the product by all means sell it for that much, its not the sellers job to warn the buyer.

I've scammed in Eve, but never in Dust.
It's justifiable in Eve because there are so many ways to trade safely. You can generally only scam greedy people in Eve, which I'm fine with.
I don't trade in Dust so I'm pretty out of the loop, but is there a Chribba of Dust? Like, the gold-standard of trustworthiness? If there is, and you didn't go through them because you didn't want to pay the fees, there's an argument that you're also a bit greedy.

Why would you feel bad about stealing GAME CURRENCY? It's not real, it doesn't matter, you can easily just make it back. If anything you'll just make them mad but nobody cares because if they get mad that their virtual money was robbed, maybe they shouldn't be trying to double your money or buy from players.
Admittedly, I've stolen about 10mil but I've legitimately sold and bought over 300m worth of goods. I've been scammed for over 100m in total and I just brush it off because it's easy to make money.... It's just a game
