The aim assist in this game is broken. You can ADS at someone's face and the aim assist will cause you to lock on to their stomach. Aim assist shouldn't lock you on to your target for you, FPS games normally only do this when playing offline against NPCs. In online games, it should just slightly slow down your aim when your crosshairs are over an enemy. It's not so intrusive this way.
This game also seems to have an above average amount of input lag. Hold still and flick your analog stick, there will probably be a noticeable delay before your character begins turning. Of course many different factors come into play when it comes to input lag and people may notice different amounts of it depending on the setup they're using. On my TV though games like Call of Duty seem to respond much faster than Dust currently does and I think this may be one of the reasons this game feels so slow and sluggish right now.
Also jumping takes up too much stamina.
That is all. |

At least the beta is. Hopefully the next patch brings in a major overhaul. It's a cool concept but the game itself is... rather unplayable at the moment. |

wrong
in Halo, the aim assist draws your crosshair towards the target just like in Dust. As a matter of fact, the aim assist in Dust is weak compared to other games, which is part of the reason it's so hard to hit people.

get an hdmi cable don't you mean get a CRT? (do they still make those?) Anyway, presumably Rex is using the same PS3 and screen for all games, so "above average" would mean "when compared to the other games I play on the same system"?

There is no need of aim assist in this game just like in MAG, you have 2 sticks->use them!
Aim assist was good on nintendo 64 because only 1 stick and it was quite difficult to aim. |

I haven't noticed any aim assist in fact I was going to say it seems like there isn't any. In my feedback thread I mentioned this topic and about how bad the aim controls are from a combination of things including: input lag, game lag, terrible aim assist and shady hit detection |

im nearly 99% that there is absoluetly no aim assist what so ever in dust.. now im not too upset right now as eve online is not at all an fps and they prolly still have alot to learn about fps but in any console fps u absolutly must have aim assist or it becomes a cluster fk of ppl unloading entire clips as they circle eachother when it only take like 6 shots to kill someone |

Yea I am pretty sure there isn't any aim assist either thats why when you get into close engagements and are your circle strafing one another it just becomes a cluster fk as you so elegantly stated because your reticule kind of trips out. This and the input lag doesn't help either |

I'd also like to say that there is absolutely no aim assist in this game. I was in a medium-range encounter against a guy with a swarm launcher. Because of the lack of aim-assist, strafing, bunny jumping, and shield regeneration, he ran out of ammo and I just gave up and walked away. That should never happen in an FPS. |

There is aim assist in Dust and its broken. Halo is designed for super casual players which is why aim assist drags you onto your target, the more "skillful" games do not do this when playing online.
There is input lag when you're in a match. All console games have some degree of input lag but Dust seems to respond slower than most. |

I will test it next time I'm available to get on my system. I know for a fact that there is no aim assist at long range, but I'll check short range specifically.
Also, Halo is only casual now that there is no competitive rank system. The skill cap was less in the aiming and more in the strategy and tactical team play. Try getting to 40 in Halo 2 team slayer and see if you still think it's casual. (of course you can't anymore since they shut the servers down) |

And instead of trying again to fix the system after 3 Bungie got lazy and just scrapped it in Reach. Also it was just confirmed that 343 will not be including a competitive rank in 4 either |

There are ranks that for from numbers to letters, Like 1 to A or something like that. It was in an E3 picture somewhere, but I can't find it right now, hold on. |

You saw a picture of said rank? Do you have confirmation that it is based on a W/L ratio, or do you just know that it is a rank? |

Dust has aim assist and due to the fact that it will support KB/M it will have it in the final build..
This build has horrible sticky aim that pulls you into center mass on ADS and, because you have to lead your targets, it pulls you off target in hipfire. There's no Snap or Auto aim as far as I can tell, but definitely sticky aim. |

Do you have confirmation that it is based on a W/L ratio, or do you just know that it is a rank? there are two ranks. one that is based of progresstion and credits like hal reach. And then there is this one that tells you your "skill rank" Which is probably a W/L based rank or something, more info will be revealed about it later.

It does have aim assist. CCP has already said that there would be aim assist. It's like Call of Duty campaigns where you snap to your target when you aim down the sight, just like Moejoe said.
As I said in my feedback thread, it could possibly be abused. For example, a person could just press L1 over and over to keep their aim on their target during gunfights. Or that's my worry. It might be hard to notice since there's issues with the frame rate and whatnot.
Aim assist shouldn't be in this game. |
