Yeah I'm kinda surprised they haven't closed it yet, it would be very cruel to keep it here if they knew Legion wasn't happening. I don't think giving the community a hint that Legion is dead would be all that bad either, we know Dust is well past it's used by date but the Devs keep plugging away on improving it. It feels like at this point they've got the attitude of 'if people keep playing it and putting money into it, we'll keep it alive'. I'm fine with that.
Something is killing new player retention.

I think it's more like "Hey these idiots are willing to twiddle their lives away on a free to play game we barely need to maintain or do anything with, might as well let them, and make some money on the side. Let these dumb consumers just waste their time thinking how to balance the game for us, and every 6 months we'll change a couple a values, that seems to be enough to keep them happy."
It's harsh, but with the amount of consistency put into the game that's what it feels like. CCP doesn't have any obligation to give us anything when you think about it, even now they've invested in the more profitable market of mobile games. It doesn't feel like anyone cares about Dust anymore.

I don't know... maybe it's more like "We're building Legion but we can't talk about it, cuz that'd 1) potentially cause a huge uproar (like it did last time... and we don't want that again until Legion's ready to deploy), and 2) detract from other CCP products we want the spotlight on right now (like Valkyrie, and to a lesser extent, Gunjack)...
...so we'll keep quietly building it, while continuing to push as many updates and fixes and patches as the PS3 allows and as are justified by the PS3 player base, and it's a win-win-win. Dusties get to keep playing their game (I mean, would you really rather it just get abandoned?), we get valuable feedback and balance input from their participation, and people who have current-gen hardware get Legion with the benefit of all that feedback and research...when the time is right.

I don't see that happening. Sounds like a bunch of cuck-a-doodle doo, but hey a little optimism can't hurt anyone, you know except the people who actually pay for AUR.

Ya, myself included, though I certainly haven't spent as much as others who are more deeply invested. I just take a 'hands in the air' approach to my investment to this game - it may or may not yield anything beyond the current experience, and I'm prepared for that possibility. I do feel genuinely bad for people who've invested money based on plans and forecasts which seem unlikely to ever come to fruition, but it's ulimately kind of a caveat emptor thing.
My optimism is because of how strongly I feel this game deserves a better platform - I genuinely think it's better (at it's core and through most of its implementation) than nearly all of the FPSs currently available. I've got a dozen of them on my PC and I still go boot up the PS3 to play this. If Legion came out in a week, I'd buy it before Halo 5 (coming from someone who binge-feeds on Halos on release).

Except its not obvious, far form it.
There are two outcomes:
1) Legion is dead, in which case ccp won;t say a damn thing about it being dead, because it will mean dust is pretty much dead.
2) Legion is coming, but they won;t say anything for fear of back lash.
Lets look at this logically. The PS3 is a dying platform. For all of CCP's 'there are 80 million PS3's' Dust has not gotten that many people playng. Over time more and more PS3's will fail. And sony will soon(tm) be cutting off support for it. Itd a matter of time. CCP has to think hard about Dust future. It has to go someplace. An announcement that legion is dead, and legion being a dust port, means Dust is dead. They will milk it for all its worth then put a bullet in its head. CCP would be STUPID to announce legion not coming, unless they had some sort of plan to vitalize dust on the PS3. and logically that is not possible.
Dust atm is stable and profitable. So if the above is true, and CCP are not going to kill Dust onces its been milked, then they are working on a port/new game. But due to the Rouge Weddings back lash, they decided ot be quite about it. This makes logical sense. CCP has growning hype aorund Valk and Gun Jack, and you don;t wan to soil both of thouse game launches with bad press or a reminder that you dropped the ball on one of your games. This would not be good for both consumers and investors.
Everything that can be gleemed is CCP is working on something. The updates for Dust have not been enough to justify a huge dev team that would be in a studio. So People in Shanghi have to be doing somehting.
Yes they made Gun Jack, but honestly that was prolly made with not alot of Dev time. It will be really easiy to recoup your loses for it. So what are the other teams doing exactly?
CCP has also stated numerous times legion is still a thing, which means they are thinking about it and most likly working on it. Rational and Logic would state that most likly Legion is in the works, and coming. and after Valk is out the door we will hear about it. Not before. And when we hear about it, it will be really close to shipment, so CCP can give oyu all the details and not mess up like they did in 2014.
But you can believe what you want, the signs i see say legion is not dead. Cause if it is Dust is dead. so it depends really on what ccp's future looks like. And the 2014 vision, if still holding true, says legion is coming. |

For all we know gunjack could just be a way to get enough funding to continue development on legion. I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case because CCP have done it in the past when they were starting development on EVE.

It is all going to be VR from here. Strap yourself in folks. While other studios are making emergent galaxies with no loading screens from space to the ground, to the stars, we are going to be within the realms of the lobbies. You can either stick around and wish for this, make your own dream, or move on.
