Good Day,
I've encountered the Black Screen of Death a couple times now, over the last couple of days.
I've also seen other folks encounter it. At the start of a match if you see a few people commit suicide, instead of leave, this seems to be an indicator of the problem.
It seems to happen on the first match of a fresh Dust launch.
It takes 5-10 secs for any buttons to work and then you have to choose the start button. This eventually brings up the Map and the normal "Start Button" sub screen. Once the map pops up, you can see if you are close to a supply depot or not. If not, folks commit suicide and the next life seems to work. If you are near a supply depot, you move toward it - sans HUD, weapon and the ability to run. Once you get to the supply depot, the normal option appears, once you change suits, normal functionality seems to return.
I will try a fresh install.

Update.
The problem seems to be spreading. I've encountered it not just in the first game I played - today, which I did, but 2 games in a row and I've been logged in for over an hour.
It seemed to effect large numbers of both teams these times. Both were Dominations if it matters.
I was also kicked out of the match after a minute or two.

I was able to get to a supply depot in the first match and changed suits. Didn't solve the problem. I switched to a second suit - things seemed to be going fine for me (several players on both teams committed suicide). I ran toward the point - got to a place I liked to drop uplinks - hands were there but no image of the uplink. I tried my other equipment (running logi) only weapons would appear and work, everything else was invisible and would not function. Approx 1-2 minutes into the game - got booted out of the match.
Next attempt was a little different, I spawned just fine, but several people from both teams committed suicide - frankly it seemed like the whole red team. I ran toward the point. Dropped an uplink. ran further dropped a second one. Killed a red player, shot at some others. My teammates were also shooting, killing and dying. I switched from weapon to scanner and no scanner image. I switched again, hands yes, no injector. Got booted from the match.

Add this to the black screen thread that already has a GM flag on it.
Something is killing new player retention.
