LATELY 7/10 MATCHES IVE BEEN STOMPING, 2/10 MATCHES IVE BEEN GETTING STOMPED, AND 1/10 MATCHES ILL HAVE A BALANCED GAME. from what I understand matchmaker goes off of the META level of your suits. Why does It go off of that, it doesn't tell how good you are. A logi has a higher meta than a scout, it doesn't mean the LOGI better. I think the matchmaker should put people based on :

It doesn't matter how good your matchmaker is if you don't have a pool of player large enough, with enough diversity in skill levels, for it to generate balanced matches.TOTAL TIME IN GAME

^ What Ripley said - Rattati instituted an ELO-like mu rating for each player and a multiplier to account for the strength of squads. We technically have matchmaker software and teambuilder software putting together our match rosters.

Also the ability for players to leave matches and the frequency with which we do so make the efforts of the matchmaker meaningless.

From how I've heard it described by the Devs, the MU for each player should be fairly accurate. I think it all falls down when the matchmaker tries to do its thing from such a limited number of players.

Something is killing new player retention. |

 For example...
I have been in a skirmish match that started 13v15. Fine, right? Roughly 3 minutes in the match 2 of our team leaves: 11v15. Then, for some reason I still cannot fathom, a new person joins the match... ON THE OTHER TEAM. That's right! The matchmaker gave the team that was already 4 players up another teammate. Needless to say we lost that match.

So perhaps the matchmaker works during match creation, but it cannot consider mu scores mid-match?
