The oldest DUST 514 characters still alive and kicking were created on the 26th of June 2012. No offense Archduke, but this is not true. My first Dust character was created May 18th, 2012. He was named Forlorn (I didn't have a last name then). The following month there was a full character reset, and my character was given the last name Destrier. This date was confirmed with Sony Playstation as the day I first downloaded/installed Dust, and I logged in and created my first character immediately after. He says the oldest "surviving characters".

For the first 3 months of closed beta, there were full character resets and all players/characters had to pick new names each month. The fact that I didn't have a "last name" for my character for the first month does not change the fact that this is the same character on the same account, with an added surname.
EDIT #1: Following your logic, the June date does not make sense unless people used the exact same name in June, and again in July and August when we had the additional full resets occurred.
Even so, my character had the same name - just no surname. In fact, if you count the full resets as new characters each time, then yes the oldest characters are dated for the move to TQ which was January 2013, and so Archduke would still be wrong.
EDIT #2: There may have only been resets in June and July of that year, and not August. I am fairly certain there were 2, and only reasonably certain there were 3.

It seems Dustboard is putting the earliest at 10 Jan 2013 but I didn't think that was right 10 Jan 2013 was the date we moved to TQ, hence all closed beta vets have this "birthday". Ah, that explains it! I wondered why mine was later than I remembered starting to play. I'm a Beta vet but didn't play much until recently, and wasn't around when the migration to TQ occurred... |
