Yeah okay wait. Ion rifle is basically an Assault Rifle...so...self-note: change name to something cooler.
I made a 'Fanfiction' info sheet about black eagle crap like a year ago and I had made up a gun called the 'Ion Rifle'. Or something. Now that I'm seeing just how...unbalanced anti vehicle and infantry weapons are, I'm just gonna like...put this here.
The Ion Rifle is really just a cross between the Assault Rifle, Scrambler Rifle, Rail Rifle and Forge Gun (Closest thing to it currently is the Ion Pistol). I don't know how CCP could make it possible to have a switch function for a weapon, being how lazy they seem lately. But the Ion Rifle can switch between two different fire modes; Automatic and Charge. Because I'm trying to make a weapon thats actually BALANCED, there is no middle variant of the Ion Rifle. There is an Assault variant - strictly made for INFANTRY, and a Breach variant - strictly made for ANTI-LAV/DROPSHIP/HEAVY purposes. Only the assault variant has an auto function, both have the charge function.
A quick stat-less sum up of the Charge function is like a cross between the Assault Forge Gun and Rail Rifle. The initial charge up time is a little faster then the current Magsec SMGs charge up (.1 wtf seconds...so like .25, .30 seconds). BUT, each charged shot is auto fired, and it works like that...like...the Magsec...

Well, theres also heat build up, and the gun fires faster then the regular SMG, but does slightly less damage in assault mode. In Charge mode, the gun fires slightly slower and hits slightly harder than the assault rifle. Yeh. The breach variant has a longer charge time, so probably two shots a second. It does a lot of damage. Almost as much as the Tactical Assault Rifle. BUT BUT BUT, it does SIGNIFICANTLY more damage to LAVs and maybe dropships. It won't do a bunch to HAVs, but it will do the damage straight up. No efficiency loss. What ya get is what ya get.
AND YEAH. I'm actually working on the mathy stats and I will add them to this later. If you have nice constructive criticism please do tell. If you are CCP and want to give constructive criticism however whatever the reason go ahead idc...

Would the ion rifle be the Gallente equivalent of the Caldari Sniper rifle? Cos what you seem to be describing is a Breach AR with a charge option.

The assault variant is a CQC weapon. The breach is like a mid-range ish weapon. Like the Tact Assault Rifle, just specifically made for anti-vehicle purposes.
Its not recommended for...anything other then anti-armor...

What's the charge time?
EDIT: Absolute range feels far too large for a Gallente weapon, and a Light weapon at that.

I am both too lazy and too stupid to find out how fast the charge time is for the charge function. 625 RPM for like...I don't know I'm guessing a .2 or .4 second charge per shot.
The Auto function literally just works like a really fast assault scrambler rifle.
Also, absolute range doesn't mean its effective. I think it means detectable, like a nick on the arm or something. Scratching the paint range.
