ive been trying out several ewar scout fits and was greatly impressed with what the caladri scout could do, with 2 complex range apms u can get around 50m radious but however i was greatly shocked when i found out whren i was cloaked i lost all of tha radoius. seriously would like to know why some thought that was a good idea. seriously you sacrifice alot of fitting for the cloak and the range apms to have it disapear. The "Cloakblind" concept originated in the Barbershop on October 10th, 2014. All credit to Haerr. The idea was discussed at length over the days that followed and was submitted to CPM Cross Atu, who presumably brought the idea to Rattati's attention. Rattati took an expressed interest in the idea on October 13th.
At the time, Scouts were outperforming and outselling all other frames, as had been the case since the Scout buffs of Uprising 1.8. This was one of a half dozen (or better) Scout nerfs aimed at bringing the frame back into balance and bringing end to the "Scoutocolypse". This specific nerf was intended to add risk to Scout play; it was believed (rightly so) that Scouts were too effective at monitoring their surroundings and cherry picking targets of opportunity from the relative safety of cloak's concealment.
Cloakblind predates Falloff -- introduced later in December of 2014 -- which (among other things) significantly reduced the potency of passive scans. The Cloakblind penalty could theoretically be rolled back from the present 85% on account of today's substantially weaker passive scans.

Hey, either be seen and get the scan range or be incisible and work off los. Doing both things together was OP and rightfully got nerfed.

Recon Scouts weren't ever invisible, but their scans were OP. Though even at their peak, Recon Scouts and their scans were weak by comparison to today's GalLogi.

That pretty much sums it up right there.

This topic has been brought many times, Rattati doesn't want to hear about it even if the cloak scan penalty is obviously too extreme. |
