Make ppl have to pay to extract themselves from battle. Make it an unruly amount. How much is unruly? Idk. What do u guys think? Like it? Complete BS? Needs something? Just feel like saying something random? Lemme know bellow.
Edit: same goes for afkers. If you get kicked from battle you also have to pay money.
Altogether, it makes sense. Think about it. You sign up to fight for a side. Then you decide to leave. The ppl who you were just fighting for are gonna ask for compensation cuz u just wasted their time. And ik that some smart ass is gonna say "we'll I never signed up to fight for a specific side in pubs" well guess what? U did. By pressing the "search for battle button," you just agreed to be put into a random battle by Scotty matchmaking AI and that you will fight. That is all I have to say.

Why don't we try and address the reasons people are leaving first, rather than trying desperately to punish people who try to escape rampant protostomps?

The "unruly" punishment would start off at a minimum. If you don't usually leave battles and it was just a "one timer" thing, for what ever reason, you will be charged with the minimum of say, 200k. If however, you leave battles very frequently, the punishment fee will slowly rise and get worse until you go negative on isk. It would function the same way factions do. If you leave 3 battles in a row, the fee will rise by one lvl. If you play 3 battles in a row without leaving, the few will drop by one Lvl.
Edit: if the punishment lvls would rise by a lot, then, ppl won't leave as much since they don't want too lose so much isk. If you leave 3 battles in a row, you will lose 200k each battle. At the end your fee will have risen to 400k (doubles each time).

Vets who stomp in squads won't be affected like newbs due to Corp pay and wallet buffer.
I see more people immediately leave when there are squads opposing them. A solo mode would help.
Promoting sticking it out would work better... I've suggested a completion bonus, for every battle completed you receive a 1% bonus to isk and sp up to a maximum of 20% and each time you press leave battle you lose 5% of that bonus. |

I did read your second post.
This will negatively affect new players because they will not have the ISK to pay such a fee. A new player could play several matches, go ISK positive, and feel good about themselves up until they hit a string of matches where they are pitted against a Proto Squad full of people who can't afford ***** enlarging pills and so as an alternative they jump into Pubs to stomp newberries.
The newberry would have 3 options: 1) quit the match and lose ISK, 2) stay in the match, die a bunch of times, and lose ISK (if they use free suits to offset a loss in ISK they will still end up having their morale crushed), or 3) go enjoy the boring life of an AFKer. |

GAME
IT IS A GAME...NOT A JOB.
Realize that the people on your team owe you nothing. They are here for their entertainment, and if they are not entertained they have the right to leave. You need to address the reasons that they are not entertained and therefore leave. You think I am happy about that? How do you think I would feel if I had to pay a TAX on top of that?

You are leaving because you aren't "entertained" aka, you aren't good enough to hold your ground. By leaving, you are messing with my entertainment. Now, I'm not the type of guy who leaves battle just cuz we are losing. Let's say I was however, I would be messing with someone else's "entertainment" who would do the same thing and cause a domino effect. Personally, I don't care about your "entertainment" because for all I see it as is you worryin about your kdr.
Edit: the game was perfectly "fun" back during early uprising when ppl would fight. To make the game "fun" again we need ppl to participate. The only way for this to happen is through punishment. Ik doesn't sound right and ik it sounds like I'm saying "enjoy the game or else..." But it is only so that the rest of us can enjoy the game

Then why not increase the punishment fee by the amount of isk you have? If you're broke, you pay 2% in the first punishment lvl. If you're rich you pay 10% in the first punishment lvl

Ok my ILLITERATE friend: I never said I leave, I let you know why people do. They are not here to make your game more enjoyable. Grow up and realize what you want is not necessarily what they want. They leave because they are not having fun. It is a game and that is the point. They should leave if its not fun for them. This is not a job or an obligation. They owe you nothing just as you owe them nothing. They are mercenaries and choose to fight when they want and leave when they want. I don't like leaves either, but they have the perfect right to do so. If you don't like it then leave as well...from the game. Any online game has leavers. Its just the way it is. Punishing them is not going to make them stay. It only makes them eventually stop playing all together, and with 2000+/- concurrent logins the game will die if they leave. For the record this game is about as "fun" as it always was. It just has a woefully small player base now.
Sorry you are spoiled and think that this is messing with your entertainment, but kid you are owed nothing by anyone who plays this game. HTFU and get used to it. Also, try reading a post for comprehension....sound out he words if you have to. Then you won't make the same mistake your last post was.

The only penalty you ever need is the inability to join another match until the one you left has ended. If you try to join a game then you are put right back in the one you left if space is available. Otherwise, you and your squad if you are in one waits on the bench.
That's the only real penalty you can impose. Anything else is foolish and overbearing on new players or too light on vets. As a side note, if you want to see less leaves watch a low MU game sometime. They stay. Its us high MU players that have the leave issue.
Fix the reasons people leave and they will stay. You really can't punish people into enjoying a GAME. |

I would have to know how much and how often people get paid from Corporations before I can assess what would be a good percentage, but even then I would probably be against it.
ISK management is apparently very difficult for new players and I wouldn't want to complicate that even more for them. |

Like I posted earlier. All you have to do is make it impossible to join another game until the one you leave is finished. Boredom is a universal motivator. Taking new players ISK for being DCed or a pittance from a vet for leaving will not fix the situation. Making them sit around waiting will. They might as well stay if they can only rejoin the match they were in or wait till it is finished. The only issue is then they will just MCC and redline camp. |

What if they dc? Or what if Scotty keeps matching the two teams against each other and one team keeps losing? That could also cause players to leave because they can't escape a particular group.

If they DC they get to connect to the game they left and pick up where they left off. If they leave then they just have to wait the 15-20 minutes until the game ends before they can search for a new match. It just means a 15-20 minute timeout for guys who leave a game for no good reason. It also means if you get Dced you can rejoin the game in progress. It fixes both sides of the problem. Accidental DCes are not punished and can get back into a left game if space is available, and K/D worried leavers have to wait on the sidelines to look for another game if they dodge a queue. No one is stuck unless they are intentionally trying to avoid a match. |
