Yes, leaver epidemic is rampant. It really hurts both the matchmaking and team builder, and thru those the game experience.
In this vid we had a good matchup coming which me and pals were anticipating. But, people on both sides decided to leave. What's worse, reds had more leavers making the game uninteresting as there is no point squadding against inferior force.

I know this is not an easy problem, and the solutions are difficult to create. But I hope the community finds nice combination of BOTH carrot AND stick to keep combatants.
Maybe in the style of online poker, heroes of newerth's leaver system or something.

Hey, if I am soloing and I run into a highly organized enemy team using proto gear, then clearly the enemy is not interested in fighting disorganised low-level rabble, so I do the polite thing and leave. I mean if an organized squad is running proto clearly they mean business and want to fight an equally organized proto team. If I stick around I'm just taking up space and keeping out the enemy's "worthy foe" and chances are this "worthy foe" is stuck with their own gaggle of disorganised redberries because I'm here getting reamed.
And perhaps pubs are more for casual goofing around so maybe leaving will encourage SAS McSeals to look in factional where he can duke it out with Ivan Spetsnazovitch.

But it isn't the newbies who leave. They haven't learned that yet.
Or do you call those guys on the vid newbs...?

to be honest i did not see video, im just to lazy. But if some expert boyko will be in game in his proto for few hundrets of thousand i think he will not be in leaver mood. Anyway leavers are everywhere and to be honest most of players just forgot one thingy. And that thingy is, this is just game.
Like honestly, yesterday i just give few special RRs and kaal skin to my friend Dreis for free. People should think less serious about something what is basicaly just not real.
And lastly one quote from uncle postapo:"Quitter in game, Quitter in life."

Well, the problem is that matches are supposed to be somewhat balanced (that's why the matchmaking and team builder have been so focal!)
But big leavers break that. And the remaining people in the match suffer the consequences. Which can be in 7x the amount of people in case of full squad of four leaving.

Major question is how to fix this. Game what is proud of its hellish design. Or it is an issue of playerbase, what is not that mature to stay in game?
Honestly i do not have an answer for both boyko :(
