Player community raises its voice, concerned about the lack of communication, updates, progress and information about DUST's future...
CPM2 band together and urge patience and resilience because 'stuff ' they can't talk about. CCP say nothing.
Weeks go by....Nothing. Summer is over...blue tags are rare if not extinct. What are we waiting for?
I worry this is all about marketing b ul lsh it delaying clear and transparent information until 23-25 October.
And that sucks. Because this game and community are sliding into shock and life support mode.
Thanks for keeping us waiting. |

I can tell you that CCP Shanghai has no intention of holding any announcements for EVE player marketing events (EVE Fanfest, EVE Vegas), both which have one thing in common: Basically no DUST players.
If CCP has something to announce before October 23rd, it will be announced on the forums. If CCP has something to announce between the 23rd and the 25th by some coincidence, it will be announced on the forums. And if CCP has something to announce after the 25th, it will also be announced, you guessed it, on the forums.
Disclaimer: I am no longer a current CPM, but I doubt anyone's feelings on that sort of thing have changed much between then and now.

Soraya, thanks for the reply.
It has just been so persistently silent from the Red/Blue posters (CCP) lately that I made the hopeful assumption they were holding back on much needed information until EVE Vegas or Fanfest.
I guess?! it's good to know that, in fact, they have nothing at all to say to us.
Right?

@ CCP games. I mean this with no malice at all. If only the game was allowed to be compiled for PC there would be an audience at Eve fest for Dust 514. If it had proper and meaningful interaction with Eve there would be an audience. Instead other space games are adding avatars and the FPS experience to their space games and prospering.

CPM2 is working with CCP on the transparency issue and rest assured any announcements will not be during some big marketing event unless someone extraordinarily screws something up.

So basically they are working on it and cant announce anything at all until VR hits the market next year hence with the release of Valkyrie. Then we....might hear something?

We'll keep trying to convince CCP to be more forthcoming, and bluntly I understand the "be patient" BS is getting stale.
Unfortunately the things we hope you will get to see ASAP aren't ours to share per se, even if we were allowed to give a full brief on what's up, it would be far more appropriate to have Rattati and his team be the ones to give the good word.
If you've had it up to your eyebrows with the quiet urging for oeace and patience, and are ready to move on I understand.
I don't simply leak info because I personally take my given word lethally seriously. When I am given information in confidence I keep that confidence even when I don't like it unless the promise was extracted under false pretenses. This rule I apply not just to CCP but friends, family and even other players.
That's why I am very hard to get to commit to certain things. If I give my word it's on. I can only ask that you respect that I won't violate that trust.
But the instant I get the "ok" to share something, you're going to see it pretty much the instant I can get my claws on a keyboard.

Geez Sadly in gaming there is a lot of work that goes on which either never sees the light of day or becomes something else before it's in any demonstrable state.
Logistically this is understandable, socially this is deeply frustrating and galling.
As per the directive from CCPs CEO only work that is in a 'confirmed' state, one that can be delivered on both in a technical and in a fiscal sense, is announced.
In essence what this means is that we get announcements which are plans not hopes as a general rule. And that's a good thing IMO, what isn't so grand is that this also means we get fewer announcements at all.
I'd like there to be more of a middle ground reached and employed at some point, and I advocate for that, but we're not there yet.

Is everything resting then on events and the few veteran players to stick it out during the PS4 rush this Christmas?
We are all aware that if new players aren't hooked by Christmas this game is essentially f'd? If not, what is the plan?
Just asking because I will be honest, I have cut way back from my every weekend FC job.
Glad the CPMs are still present and feeling our pain.
Can the CPM at least get CCP to make a bunch of easy to churn out events during this lull to keep player counts higher? Just asking.

Thanks Darth! Sorry to push for an update, but people are freezing to death out in the cold. Rolling into Black Friday in 2 weeks, so maybe those discount PS3's will create a surge of new players.

I think this is a great event CPM. Thanks!
I like how we aren't making things grindy for the newer Dust Bunnies. I know so many get discouraged when they can't hit the goal. Even if some guys are blowing it out the door in a day, that is fine because they were going to do that anyway.
Can I ask for one more thing from the CPMs?
I know you guys are busy, but since Archduke is the only Dev I ever see in Dust lately and he is never with the faceless noobs who don't even see the mountain top they want to climb. Can you CPMs make a celebrity appearance in something like the Academy or in squad finder pubs? Just for a couple of days.
Could you make some smurf accounts and let the new guys see you show them how it is done in a few matches? Be sure your smurfs are clear to them so they know they are with a celebrity. This is like how the WOW devs used to come down and grind with newer heroes they were working out the kinks on. They would draw a crowd when they did that.
Plus I hear so many of them complain about not having the gear but I show them how I can eat up the big boys in my militia sometimes with a proto gun but that isn't discussed or videoed. It is always about having the top tier gear and stomping to Reds. Lets show them that they can win with teamwork and skills.
I think some celebrity appearances would go far. Just trying to keep the new guys thriving. Thanks again. Just an idea that doesn't require a lot to achieve.

Our characters can't enter the Academy due to the mechanics of the game however something with the squad finder might be able to be worked out. Sadly a pub squad, even if we have every CPM running one, is only going to allow for 21 players (beyond the CPMs) to be involved which is a comparatively small part of the player base.
These are the moments I wish that Dust were less of a lobby game and more of an open world game, we could really get folks involved that way.
Also, getting the new folks into chats with the Learning Coalition and Dust Uni folks would be good if any of them haven't found those chats yet. It's a plus to have helpful folks around who will answer questions
