After learning about the latest Swarm Launcher nerf, I posted my thoughts and the responses were varied, but generally they centered around these three...
1. Adapt scrub...
2. The SL is an aerial denial weapon, not a long range laser guided missile system...
3. New pilots needed some support, as the SL was too OP...
...this got me thinking...
The primary use of Dropships in Dust, is to drop spawn pads on rooftops, in order to camp it...
The only effective weapon to defend against Dropships is the Swarm Launcher. But the range nerf has made it a much more close combat system...
So...
You can't down the Dropship as easily, or quickly as before, ok fine... And once the Dropship has done it's business on the roof and it's now Christmas up there with spawn pads and nanohives all over the place, what do you do?...
You can't lob a bunch of flux granade on the roof...
And if you can't snipe the roof effectively... The campers will remain up their, dropping more and more equipment...
So my weapon idea is this...
--- FLUX LAUNCHER ---
Same principle as the Swarm, except it locks onto the frequency signature of spawn pads and nanohives...
You point it at the roof, platform or hill side etc... It lock's on, you then point the thing up in the air and release, the flux granades launch and drop down over the intended target...
- You could for example, increase the flux grenades dispersal range when fired from max/very long range, (because the initial laser lock was from so far away), but as you get closer 250/200m, so the flux grenade target the pads and nano's with ever greater efficiency...
As a battlefield weapon, it would counter the rooftop camping nicely, without every being to op for pilots to deal with...
What do you think? A FLUX Launcher / Mortar...

We have Flux Strikes, both minor and major, that can do that.
Also, Swarms aren't the only weapon that can defend against Dropships. We have the Forge Gun which, given it's range, actually does a better job of it.
Swarms look like they're being shifted away from countering Dropships and aimed more at HAVs or ADS that hover too long looking for kills.

I'm new to the game and only play solo in pub matches. I've seen the strikes, but for solo players I don't have the access to that kind of thing...
If I could earn the WP and call my own strikes, that would be a whole different story!...

Dude... It's a Multi-player game... Do some friends or pals, make a fireteam (4) join publics and drop da bomb. If you wanna play alone, play COD, Counter strike or Battlefield. You don't will enjoy Dust 514 if you pay alone. 16 vs 16 in a Laggy match is so fun.

If you make a squad, then you can gain acess to strikes, even if you're the only one in the squad. You need to earn War Points in battle to drop a strike, so I'd recommend running Uplinks or going with a Needle and/or Rep Tool to get enough WP. It's possible for a Logi to earn a Warbarge or Laser strike solo.

Really?! Just make the squad at the start and your good to go! Oh why didn't anyone say that before!!!... I'm sure they did, but I missed that nugget. Thanks for the info!...
- I run solo, only because I don't know anyone else who play's this game... But, I don't play the game solo, per se...
I do play with my team, as a team, dropping pads, nano's and swapping fits to match the needs of the battle (on a death by death basis)...
I don't make mega amount of WP per game, but certainly enough to call in a strike every now and then...
I've found that when your a new player, you can't do much to win the battle on your own, but you can certainly help your team by being a damn nuisance to the others and generally try to be any role that's needed, at any time...
(I'd usually die more often in the beginning, so swapping fits, kinda became the norm. Now it's just a habit, that works for me.)
However with this latest bit of info, (thank you MT) I shall start to make squads, pop my mic on and see what happens...

PLC, dude. Wipes shields hard and if you can get the angle just the splash will wipe equipment.
Solo squad should have little to no issue generating enough WP for at least a couple of the small flux strikes if not the larger ones. If anything train your aim with the smaller ones, from overhead accurate drops can be misleading until you get the hang of the overhead aim.
