I don't know anything about computer hardware I was wondering if any of you knowledgeable mercenaries could help me out, what is a decent SSD drive to help with maintaining an enjoyable dust experience? |

Bring your old PS3 hard drive to the store, and ask them to find a SSD that's the same size.
Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.

it wont make a difference but sure go ahead and try, I don't recommend spending anything more then 60$ usd but feel free to look at any of the Samsung ssd's and if money is no issue then feel free to buy whatever you want
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-75E250B-AM/dp/B00OAJ412U/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1443401725&sr=1-1&keywords=Samsung+ssd
the 120 gb version is the one you probably want to get personally I prefer the 250 gb but I have my reasons and none of them are related to dust so the 120 should be fine
there are other reputable merchants out there but the Samsung ssd's are reliable, they never really get any bad reviews and generally work better then any other stated for the same price or same quality
if you are looking for something cheaper then I recommend simply upgrading the hard drive to a better one instead of an SSD
generally I am no expert but the only real difference I and many others have noticed is that some things load faster but generally not that big of a difference from a good HDD
I'm sure someone else can inform you better but that's just my 2 isk

I strongly recommend against hybrid drives. The SSDs in them die quickly, and then they're slower than standard drives.
For SSDs, look at Kingston SSDNow V300s. They're cheap, and they do the job.

ANY 2.5INCH SSD WILL WORK better than the standard hhd. You do not need a hybrid which is more expensive nor the most expensive ssd. Just find the cheapest SSD you can and watch YouTube videos of installing it yourself..
I currently have the Samsung 850 evo II which is 120gb that I bought on sale for $80.. No complaints and have loaded faster than others with SSDs but by a milisecond.. Makes no huge difference.. Just don't waste money on an expensive one as it doesn't matter with the ps3

I ain't scared like ya'll.

So is the SDD noticeably better than a good HDD? My game has started freezing at least once per hour, requiring a hard reset and a corrupted file check. It's a pain.
Dust definitely taxes my PS3, my fan always has to run while it's on. So do you think replacing the HD will help with that issue? $45 for the Kingston V300 60gb SSD sounds pretty good if it will fix my issue.
I'll probably get one regardless, but I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this issue. |

Yes, SSDs will make your DUST life much better. Any size will do, and any brand is fine. (Your PS3 can't benefit any more from the FASTEST EVER SSD than it can from a budget one. But having an SSD in general, will help.) Do NOT get a hybrid, I've had to replace a lot of them in laptops because the SSD component in the hybrid fails rapidly.
I use one of the Kingstons myself, Daemonn. I recommend it.
