So GalAssault is getting a bonus to hybrid - blaster ROF, because the blaster family as a whole is underperforming. The AR is seen less than any given assault variant, the TAC AR is seen less than the SCR, etc. Well I don't think the GalAssault bonus is good. Because now, the assault rifle family will perform well... On one suit. Meanwhile, the vast majority of other rifles perform well on ANY suit, not just their racial assault. So if buffing the ROF is seen as the answer, why not do this:
1. Buff ROF on the blaster family natively
2. Increase the hipfire dispersion/kick of the blaster family.
What this does is make the blaster family as a whole.more deadly in all suits hands, while making the current bonus the GalAssault have even more useful to take advantage of the increased lethality of the weapons.

Arguably the fact that the racial weapons perform decently well on non-assault suits could be seen as a bad thing since it makes the Assault bonus feel less necessary.
Regardless I fear you may be correct that the Assault Rifle will then require the Gallente Assault (Or Commando really) to be necessary to make the weapon viable. While this may not necessarily be a bad thing on its own, the fact that its inconsistent with the other weapons/suits could be problematic.

I think the assault bonus should enhance the weapon rather than make it viable. The combat rifle is good, the MinAssault bonus makes it better.

You could make the same argument about Commando's and how the damage bonuses makes their racial weapons more viable , I think it's going to be a good thing , all the assault suits will boost the performance of their respective rifles .
Commando's have their respective weapons classes .
I don't see a problem with this , you still will see people mixing and matching .. it's just that now your race matters as it should .
It's what each racial group is known for and now the roles are getting more defined .
I call Cal Assault will become FOTM with their bonuses , it's going to make their weapons more viable and with the shield buff .

I'm all for balancing weapons to be good on any suit inherently, allowing room for racial suits to become specialists with thier favoured weapon type, but the dispersion on the AR actually needs to tightened, not loosened; I've always found that even though ACR does less DPS than the AR, it's tighter hipfire means that I land more shots on the target and thus they drop comparitively faster.
RoF buff on the Assault variant is the way to go. Burst needs another round per burst, the TAC is actually fine and fair, and after the scrambler nerf you will see more and more of it. The Breach needs another 3 to 5 rounds in the magazine, otherwise it's also pretty solid. If the native variant gets a RoF buff then the Breach should get one too I guess.

Well once the Fox drops into the game we can confirm all of those. Plus I like my AR but it does underperform. Excited for that GalAss RoF

It's logical that racial weapons should have bonuses on their racial suits, why is this a problem??

I think racial bonuses should stack even for the race you choose from the beginning. Would motivate people to stick to one race more than just meta gaming.

I wouldn't necessarily say that- it's alright on the Amarr Commando, for example. Barring scouts (as they can leverage the alpha-strike capability pretty well), though, I would agree that AmSalt/AmMando are the best ScR platforms.

I used to run scrambler exclusively on my gal logi. It had 600armor with sweet passives. 3 prec, 2 range amps. 36 meter passives of 24 precision and rep hives . That with my passives and active ewar meant precharged head shots galore. Scouts couldn't run or hide.
Assaults make the guns handle better. They don't make them deadly. They are deadly by being guns.
Now to the main topic. Yeah I'm not too happy with the AR being buffed by the gal assault, but I think the assault variants range Nerf will allow any AR user to rejoice knowing the arr isn't just an AR with twice the range and armor Prof instead of shields
While slow to anger and occasionally indecisive, they are also capable of harnessing enormous resolve when truly tested.

I agree with you in general, however you should keep in mind non-AR assault variants are having their range toned down, the scrambler and ass scr are being nerfed a bit, etc. So while the AR variants may feel like they are underperforming now, after the hotfix things might be alot closer to even. |
