Finally, reducing the Swarm Launcher lock-on range, hit impact and turning radius should improve the quality of life of Dropship users, and somewhat for HAVs...' -- hotfix foxfour
It says they have nerfed & reduced the lock on range, for the Swarm Launcher, yet again...
It used to be 400, then 175, now its 150...
This now means all rooftops on large maps are now out of range, because of the speed at which the A/ DS can fly, versus the movement speed of the swarm carrier, at the beginning of the match...
The guns on the ADS however, are always in range at 150.5... Which is exactly the height all dropships, will now happily fly about in, without any fear of being shot down...
Foot Soldiers will now only need to look up, just a little bit, to see the sky buzzing with glowing Assault Dropships raining hot plasma on the objective, spawn points and eventually the redline... ...(well within the redline I might add)...
Great...
I'm going to have to skill into something else, or leave battles when 10 Proto ADS Dropships are now flying about, because nothing can bring them down fast enough any more and every rooftop has it's own proto myo md spammer camped on it...
--
And heaven forbid, trying to survive, by hiding in the redline...
" It's just 'so noob', 'so typically bluberry'..."
I call it smart... When you facing a proto wall of gun fire and you only have a pissy sponge to throw back at them...
Retreating and hiding at sniper range is the only option left to you! It's just one tactic of Guerrilla Warfare...
Wars, which you can't win, if your dead...
Can you snipe with a plasma cannon from the redline?...
Might be the only thing us new players get to do, as we are peppered from the sky and blasted from tank fire on the ground...
CCP / CPM - If you were going to make it a close range missile launcher, at least you could have done, was reduced the lock on time to compensate, so it becomes point, lock, fire, repeat...
Right now its, point... wait... fire.. keep pointing... waiting... re-tracking... locking... oh now the thing is 2 meters above my head... ****, run... ok... point... wait for it to lock again!... damn it!... the thing is right there, just fire!!!... i'm dead...
--
From my understanding a Dropship is supposed to be used to drop troops into positions, they wouldn't ordinarily get to. But dropped in from a height!!! For pilot safety reasons...
In Dust pub matches, (which as a noob is all I play) they are used as personal jets for scouts and md spammers...
If one goes down, it was probably in the line of fire too long...
But you can't just park the thing, get all you pads and nano's down, have a picnic on the roof and then complain when it gets blown up, because AV infantry has finally arrived...
Again with the ADS variant, always only one guy in it, you can never spawn in them, (same with tanks. how our you ever supposed to get the vehicle kill assist award, i'll never know)...
So when one goes down, it's only one player who's complaining because their personal sky tank got shot down, when they were hovering overhead, laughing at you with your expensive fly swatter, as they try to line up head shots...
The one weapon / only weapon for new players and ADS defense, has now become utterly useless on the battlefield, against the very thing it was designed to defend against & destroy...
I think you'll find the balance needs to be tipped again...
150m lock-on range, fine... But it's point and shoot, 0.1sec lock on time...
.............................................................................................................................................................................................................................
However... Like everything in Dust i've discovered... I must bide my time and let revenge come to those who wait...
I will find a new way to destroy them...
I will 'git gud'...
I will float on a lilo, on the river of my own tears...
But, eventually I will find a way to bring them all down...
