The Null cannon missiles are not just fancy effects, they are quite physical in-game, and can kill you if you are very unlucky.
The most common spot (as far as I know) to get killed by it, is the map with the two rows of long pipes leading from under each MCC to a tall tower in the middle. There is a Null cannon just close to the tower almost underneath the pipes, and if you are unlucky in your jumping, you might get a present on your way down. |

Dropships hit by MCC missiles will show as anti mcc turrets.
Snipers on top of the MCC will show as anti mcc turrets.

I wonder... does the missile explode when it hits you?
Does it not damage the MCC afterwards?
Is this a new way to win?

I got bored and sabotaged a few matches back when jumpy fits first came out. It takes quite a while to master but you can actually put equipment on top of the null cannons which will block all friendly missiles.

I heard that Nyain San once won a PC by blocking the Null Cannon missiles with Dropships. This isn't a new tactic by any means, but it is rarely a practical one. I've been playing PC since the beginning (May 16th 2013 Uprising 1.0) and blocking the anti-MCC missiles isn't a widely used tactic to say the least.
In theory on a 5 point map you could hold 2 objectives with 13 people and allocate 3 skilled pilots to continuously call in militia dropships(to minimize isk losses) and block the anti-MCC missiles of the 3 enemy objectives. Of course the time it takes to call in another dropship and fly back into position is too great to block every missile.
Also it doesn't take much to thwart a single person continuously tanking a shot, jumping out and calling in a militia dropship near a red objective, so ideally the pilot would die with their ship, spawn in a safe location such as a ground spawn, then fly it into position from there which further increases the amount of missiles that get through.
Things to take into account as well are that PLCs, rail turrets and forge guns toss dropships around, which will very likely toss them away from the missiles if not destroy them. Any PC team worth their salt has AV, and any dropship hovering in place is baby food to a hardened AV PC vet.
Not to mention this isn't a fun playstyle for anyone, especially the KD obsessed PC stars I know. Most people with talent struggle with staying on their objectives rather than chasing kills for crying out loud, pub tactics are hard to overwrite.
