I bought elgato hd, now they've come out with the elgato 60 I think it's called, it was -ú120 and is very decent.

I have no job at the moment either, it sucks and if it will give you something to do then bloody well do it, don't worry about the quality of the device, it's the purpose of the device that counts and what you want to do.

do it, go for it. it's nice and cheap so if you don't use it much it's no love lost really, only go for what I advised if you're really into making videos like I am.

for something to do and a nice hobby video production is the ****, it's fantastic and I do it every day of my life inbetween playing drums and gaming.

Don't get an easy cap. It is the crappiest capture card you can get.
Quality is absolutely bad.

Either go Elgato , Roxio or Avermedia.

I don't know about the cheap ones...I got an ezcap kinda deal for like 75$ I think, works like a charm. You can check out my youtube videos actually if you want an idea how it runs.


I just put in a USB stick to store the videos and push a little button when I want to record, simple as can be.

As for montages your going to want to make some and those full uncut battles too just as i do.

Some viewers like montages some like uncut and the only way to make them both happy is to make some of both unfortunately.

As for the capture card stay away from cheap O's they will give you horrible quality, horrible lag to the point where you cant play and record.

Make sure to get a HD capture device not just a card.

I recommend Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Pro Gaming Edition, it comes with everything even your own free video editor as well as an instant upload feature to youtube saving you upload time as well as rendering the video twice.

Depends on where your located but they go for around $200 - $300 bucks.

If your just doing it for fun and get a cheap O be prepared for some of the issues I mention here in this post.

LIgthing, you have good reason to break out Cham---uh, er I mean Quafe. Not all of us do the standard career path of Grunt or Medic or LogiBro. Those branches of merc have the easiest grind to gain SP, because they at weapon or equipment in hand, and around ever next corner of the building is the chance to stack up WP.
Turret-specialists, Recon-specialists and Overwatch Squad Leader practitioners likely only have built 40 million in 2 years, and some Vehicle Operators (like, errr Dropships) will grind less than 30 million SP in 2 years.

Dust IS a piece of work for making you "earn your way" to a career.


....What do I like to see in our Dust vids? Honestly? I'd like to see fewer of them.
The EVE Online players still beat us at making some of the most riveting, Audio/MIC coordinated, and strategically enlightening New Eden style combat footage.
...By comparison, our videos tend to lack (TEND TO lack, not always lack)
editing skills of the kind you see in EVE vids,
teamwork recognition of the kind you see in EVE vids,
helpful identification of key players actions through the fog of the match,
helpful overview of the progress of the match,
and proper toning down of "the author's patting herself on the back for being such a hotshot soldier--toot toot",
and toning down of the tendency to rant about glitches (just edit those scenes out--make an entertaining movie for us, please).

There are plenty of, well,..."sketchy" or "drab" vids make by EVE and Dust players on youtube. But there are also plenty of rock-solid vids made by EVE players that are good enough to win amateur web director recognition,... and unfortunately very few made by Dust players that carry that reach that same "impressive for amateur" quality.
NOT trying to spit on Dust video hounds. I WANT to see our vids knock an EVE Online vid to the curb more often. Lightning, collect your Dust footage and find a buddy who still uses MAC's Final Cut Pro 7. Make us proud of you.

Ya if you dropped that ob it would have been great, i find in battles like that your trying so hard not to die and only kill your nerves get going and the next thing you know battles over and ob's not used lol.
