Why do you play pub matches?
To win? To feel good about beating the red guys? Why?
If playing pub matches isn't getting you what you're looking for, reassure yourself that you're looking in the right place.

Wait.... what?
I play pubs cuz I'm waiting for PC timers lol!
I play pubs cuz it's generally quicker battles than FW, and FW lacks any sort of matchmaking... saying that apparently pubs is as well?!
I play pubs to test fits, and finish missions!
Most importantly the grind is in pubs! Well, it used to be. Then you lot of kd padders and snipers came... disgraceful?!

I only play pubs... The whole role playing thing is lost on me. So no factional.
I also only play solo or with my wife. So PC isn't an option.
I'm looking for rounds where everyone try's a little. Quitting within the first minute is pathetic.
I'm am saying that this needs to be addressed... Maybe a isk multiplier % for finishing consecutive matches.
Maybe 1% per 5 matches finished with a 20% cap, with quitting losing 1%. |

Except for the gloat mails ( tho I have sent a few ) I like this attitude.
Sometimes a few suicide runs even if ineffective ( like tossing re's into a group of officers gear ) to panic and scatter the enemy leaves my with a huge grin. |

Because dom is a horrible game mode in a game with explosive spam and horrible map design.
If a competent squad gets inside, no solo player is changing the course of the fight, so much as well quit and find a better match.

I'm am saying that this needs to be addressed... Maybe a isk multiplier % for finishing consecutive matches.
Maybe 1% per 5 matches finished with a 20% cap, with quitting losing 1%.
If this has not yet been suggested in Feedback, you should do so. Also add in a bonus to SP up to a cap of 10-15% as it would both help those who do not have time to cap out every week as well as give additional incentive for players to stick around in a losing match and try to fight it out.
Be sure to point out that the daily mission 'Join and complete 5 battles' doesn't actually track the battles you completed, as they still count even if you leave battle. They need to fix that tracker for this to work, but that would be the absolute best means that I can possibly think of to keep people in matches even when things look grim. The only change I would make is if you leave a match you lose 5% of your progress towards the cap, giving you the stick to go with your carrot.
As one of the biggest issues this game is currently facing, I see this being a wonderful incentive for people to at least stick around when a match's outcome looks bleak.

Why not make it so you can only bring X amount of gear to each match, always including Militia BPOs by default.
You quit, your stuff goes up for salvage as gear or straight isk value for your team at EoM. You lose, you keep what you kill/help kill. You win, you keep what you kill/help kill.
Incentive to buy BPOs gives CCP dosh, makes quitting hurt the pocketbook, and makes an incentive to play. Also highlights the problems of BPOs on the market as being risk free.
My 2 cents.

It's not a stomp when it's only four guys in the squad in proto. 4 I can deal with.... the q syncs in pubs is a little different?! It's a fact that in pubs now you need the blues to step up in many different roles. Our 4 man squad, though strong, just gets hammered when it's 5 v 16.
The matchmaker should focus on 4 man squads balancing on both sides 1st! We seem to just be piled in there currently?!

I think you're being hit with a double blow for the time being. One blow is from the Amar Event itself, which (LOL!!) seems to have excited the participants so much that they brought out their advanced-gear, Aur-suits, Quafe Lavs, and LEFT all their brains behind back in the Living Quarters. I've observed the most thoughtless, error-prone, careless-n-bubbleheaded behavior on the maps in these 48 hours,... by players of my matchmaker-level,... players I'm used to having beside me, choosing and acting at pretty logical moments in the past. What's wrong with you folks today? OMG.
"The Second Blow", is an ironic thing that some of us players say coming, and have been raising on the forums: Making the matchmaking "easier" for a player to find her level of play, leaves the battle wiped clean of all the possible combat factors except two: "individual motivation" and "player's motives".
If your individual motivation is to win this match, but you've been teamed with blues who want to see first if the red team has "OuterHeaven" or "WhiteOrchid" squads on it while you're running to the object on your own,... you've 'lost' this match.
If you step onto a map that is filled with more than 7 uplinks in the first minute of the match, it means you have blues on the team whose motives are to get you to "use my uplink for 50wp",... then you've 'lost' this match.
... I can go on listing the signs. We've all encountered those matches.
Before matchmaking, you didn't have the luxury of trying to measure whether you should "try hard to win" in this match. You knew that going into any match was going to be a BRUTALLY against you, mere survival was always your primary enemy, and you'd have to kick and bite your way through this match. You tried hard because it was the only way to get through the match with some kind of self respectful stats.
Now that things are softer, you can scratch our tummies, yawn and ask, "hmmm, do I want to struggle in this match, or just pass and unlock my Daily Mission reward in the next match instead? The next match may be a cake-walk. Hmm... yawn and stretch, and hmm."
No, I'm not suggesting we go back to NO matchmaking. I'm just suggesting that with matchmaking ON, we've eliminated most of the variables that make battles (even real ones) more compelling and harder to guess the outcome of.
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...
No story can have life without writers and publishers.
