Small idea I thought up while on a smoke break at work.
So I was thinking maybe we should bring back the old Corp Battles but make it different. Instead of having it where it is a 16v16, make it an 8v8 and only on three point skirmish maps.
Now with these 8v8 matches we can do something interesting. First off we can have unranked matches. These can be where corps practice tactics and go for bragging rights and have a small fee. Small corps can participate in it and rewards are paid out the same way as PC.
Ranked matches work differently. Have it set up so every month or so, the rankings reset. Have there be rewards for achieving a certain rank, such as officer gear paid out to the players on the ranked team. There is a small fee when participating in ranked matches and you only go against teams with a similar rank.
However to make things fair, your team always goes against another team based on the highest rank of one of your members. This will stop people from stomping low ranks while also allowing alts to get the loot from high rank games. If you reach a certain rank in a "season" you recieve a SKIN for that season (Yes I stole the idea from Hearthstone and their card back at rank 20).
I believe those will also help smaller corps get a taste of PC.
Another idea, using this model, is to have tournaments. The isk payment is higher and once a team loses three matches, they are eliminated until the next tournament. But the rewards would be the best out of all three.
Lore (Bare in mind I am not the best writer):
Corp Battles
Corperations, to prove their might, have released contracts open to all Warlords and their Mercenary Corperations. They wish to show their rivals who is truely better. Using their mass amounts of wealth, they have crafted a series of battles for Warlords to fight in for wealth, fame and glory. Will you rise to the challenge?
Tournaments:
Who is truely the greatest amongst the Warlords? Who has the skills to step forth into the grand arena and leave victorious? The greater powers of New Eden have wagered against you and now it is time to prove them the fool. The Grand Tournament begins, who will be left standing? Will it be you?
