Well, at least as much as HAV's and LAV's does.
Too often are we cheated out of a hard earned kill, because the pilot ejects before hitting the ground, and if he's still killed after that, we barely even get a kill assist.
When armor hits 0 on all suits, HAV's and LAV's, we die promptly. Why are DS'es different?
I still want to see them crashing to the ground burning, but I'm a bit tired of always getting cheated out of that coveted +50 kill, on top of a measly +75 (DS type) destruction. |

The ship is burning, let that count as a countdown to bail? ie. 200 thermal DPS?
Even if I'd love to see that 7x kill, I agree, passengers are in the open, and should probably have a few seconds to go, with a loud alarm to alert them that they should. Gunners can be a bit... focused elsewhere to notice the ship going down. |

There is NO fit that gives you good durability in the face of AV all the time, you're either kind of vulnerable all the time, or slightly resilient for a short while with a long period of being a paper airplane dowsed in gasoline.
The flight ceiling is the only reason DS aren't just constantly blown up over and over and over again, and there's a reason most top pilots will tell you the proper answer to AV is to immediately run. |

DS"s are a lot like every other vehicle. They can be nearly impossible to kill if they have a decent pilot that is willing to run at the first sign of trouble. It takes 3-4 shots of almost any AV weapon capable of hitting a DS to kill them. Even without a booster a DS can be out of range or behind a building within two with ease. Frankly I kind of feel swarms aren't nearly deadly enough. It's pretty easy for an ADS to kill a swarm user or just run before they are taken down. An ADS can one shot most infantry while it takes constant fire to take down an ADS.
Plus what most people fail to consider is that there are no advanced or proto level ADS, it's the basic one. It should go down like a paper airplane, every other basic suit or vehicle does. They need to put in proto level ADS"s and then people can complain about dying to easy.
As for the no kills, yeah it's annoying. Though you can get the +75 damaged bonus rather easy with drop ships, and quite often too since they recover so quickly. Half the time you don't even get the 75 bonus for destruction and only get a vehicle kill assist for 50, even when your the only person shooting at the DS.

Was about to say, dropships get killed all the time but this is about pilots bailing out. My only problem is it isn't consistent with HAV's & LAV's. Hell, sometimes if you're lucky you won't lose vertical thrust once the DS hits 0 armor and can fly at least 300m back to the redline SD (at least, I've had it happen several times in my Python when I was skilled into it). So either HAV's & LAV's get some extra time to bail or the DS should lose its extra time. Personally I think bringing back burn damage would be a great solution.

Down with the ship I say. I always roll to the side before jumping out for whatever reason unless I'm already landed.

Lol finally someone who knows...I think me and you battled it out for a whole round trying to kill each other, I ran full proto triple damage mods minmando maxed skills and warbarge. The best I could do was score points I don't think you ever even caught fire. |

My argument on the same topic with Pokey.
Tesfa Alem wrote:Pokey Dravon wrote:Tesfa Alem wrote:
Apples to Oranges.
Why do HAV and LAV drivers get to hop in and out of their vehicle at any random moment?
If a Dropship Pilot jumps out at a random moment me and my dropship fall to earth taking damage or blowing up. But a tank/jeep driver hops out at any moment and can jump right back into his tank with out it exploding.
Tanks and LAVs should come to a full stop (like dropship pilots have to land) before exiting and entering thier vehicles. Or they explode.
I don't really see why an ability to enter/exit because you're a ground vehicle has anything to do with a difference in destruction conditions. One has to do with a difference in that you're flying vs being on the ground, the other has to do with the fact that one vehicle doesn't blow up immediate once it runs out of HP. How are those two things related? Or is the ground the only thing capable of actually blowing up vehicles which is why HAVs and LAVs do it instantly? like I said, apples to oranges. as in two dissimilar and nearly unrelated things. You did understand the analogy, no? We are not comparing gunlogis to madrugars, we are comparing two very distinct classes, which have almost nothing to do with each other. A drop ship is not a flying tank, or a flying lav. Every time you ask "why aren't they treated the same", I wonder how many times i have to spell it out that they are not the same at all. They have different destruction conditions. so what? dropsuits get revives, tankers with massive ehp/ damage output get to jump out as they please, pilots are manueverable? (less manueverable than swarms they are supposed to out manuever) and bail when their ship is going down. different unique classes have their unique advantages and disadvantages. I don't see why this is so hard to get people to understand.
And by the way, chasing a dropship and dogfighting with the rail incubus that I fly is much harder than any ground AV and is far more expensive than any ground AV. So please, just stop with this dumb line of reasoning.

What I think is funny is how a DS is invincible once it has been 'destroyed'. It gets a destruction timer and nothing can hurt it till it blows up, even when it's already on the ground landed when it's killed. It still gets a free pass for 10 seconds or so till it blows up. Giving pilots and passengers a chance to bail wouldn't be so bad if you shot the thing again and they would die instantly. After alli it has zero armor and no shields and is effectively dead. Yet it still takes shots, blocking and preventing dmg to anything behind/inside of it.
I can't understand the logic behind a drop ship with no armor left surviving several more rail turret shots just so it can go through it's death animations and let the pilots bail out.

The only time a DS will die instantly, if you dare to carefully land a perfectly healthy DS.
