So for the past few weeks I have been working up to the Eryx, and I mean getting all the secondary skills up aswell. First off I want to say that the ship itself is a wonder, its fun to fly, its defence is great for what it is but it suffers from what all dropships suffer from and this is a lake of vision in their design and handling. Ive become good at flying the thing, but it is more akin to steering a Buick Boat on ice then actual precision flying. Also a tier 2, or tech 2, should feel special compared to its lesser siblings, the Eryx does not. The ability to be a clone becon is nice, however the ship itself is spouted a s a "Logistics" ship and lacks that feel.
What I would propose is adding a moddifier to the ships power requirments to field a remote repper. Much like a Hounds power requirments for a torpedo pod are modified. Next we really need to fix how BAD flight is. Tanks and LAV's feel "almost right" but the Dropships are horribly off. The primary role of a dropship is to "drop people off" hence the DROP in ship. That being said I have tried to provide fire support to ground pounders by circling CRU's with my gunners at angles, but so many weired things happen in flight it makes it difficult. Sudden loses of altitude for no reason are common, and the ability to maintain altitude aswell. Inconcistent handling mechanics aswell. Some times I will see a person with a swarm round a corner and pull back on the left stick to get away from the person and the way i soar away is great, like a bird moving backwards off of food when a predator approaches, other times i just move straight back with out any gain in altitude doing the same thing, and I am dead.
Handling needs to be improved on this class of vehicle perhaps more then anything else. I understand that tanks and LAV's are a bit blunky, but they behave the same way, everytime, aircraft do not.
Back to remote repair mod's, the width and height of the stationary target area needs to be bigger, whats more (either by skilling for it or mechanics) remote repair mods on dropships need to lock faster and do more repairs in that brief lock then perhaps their ground side cousins. The ship in question is a "logistics dropship" and thus needs to provide logi, and do it in a manner that dosent require "clunky box handeling 6.
I know this is a beta, and thats WHY i am posting this. If this dosent get fixed, I will still fly these ships, they are fun and useful, they just arent as fun and useful as they probably sh
