The first time I saw Rattati, it was when he was the leading developer for Dust 514. The first time I actually met Rattati in person is a completely different story altogether. This story takes place in Toronto during September and October of 2014. HereGÇÖs what happened:
IGÇÖm fifteen minutes early for my weekly match with my friend Hans. He hasnGÇÖt arrived yet. I have his racquet and safety glasses because he forgot them in the locker room last time we played. So IGÇÖm standing outside the court, waiting. Rattati walks past me. Then he stops, turns around, and looks at me. Then it gets stranger, because then Rattati actually says something to me.
GÇ£Squash?GÇ¥ he says.
GÇ£Yeah,GÇ¥ I say.
GÇ£YouGÇÖre about to play squash?GÇ¥
GÇ£Yeah.GÇ¥
IGÇÖm too nervous to reply with anything more eloquent.
GÇ£Is it fun?GÇ¥ he asks.
GÇ£Yeah.GÇ¥
GÇ£It looks fun.GÇ¥
GÇ£It is.GÇ¥
GÇ£IGÇÖve always wanted to play squash.GÇ¥
GÇ£YouGÇÖve never played?GÇ¥
He thinks about it for a second.
GÇ£No,GÇ¥ he says.
I look down at my two racquets and two pairs of safety glasses, and I make a bold choice.
GÇ£Want to play?GÇ¥ I say.
Rattati smiles again, that devilishly charming smile that weGÇÖve all seen on the forums.
GÇ£You serious?GÇ¥ he says. He says it that in that devilishly charming mumble weGÇÖve seen on the forums.
GÇ£Yeah, I have two racquets. My friend was going to come, but he bailed.GÇ¥
GÇ£Alright,GÇ¥ he says. GÇ£Sounds fun.GÇ¥
GÇ£Great!GÇ¥ I say. GÇ£After you!GÇ¥
He walks into the court. While heGÇÖs getting used to what the inside of a squash court is like, I take the opportunity to text Hans and tell him not to worry about coming.

For a while there I feared that story might have ended describing a torid three way because I thought "Squash" meant something else completly different in the Great White North
