Currently it's a useless mandatory skill that is only raised to 3
Since swarms are currently over-performing against dropships, and Ratatti and crew are too afraid to go through with tiers on the other vehicles, why not increase their durability in another way?
Each level of Dropship Command confers 2% resistance to a dropships primary tank, to a max of 10%, similar to the old Logistics Ship bonus. This applies to MLT, Basic, and Assault Dropships.
I also think forge guns could then use a straight 10% bonus to damage, since they are currently under-performing in most cases. Forge guns would then be slightly stronger vs maxed dropships, and reasonably stronger vs under skilled ones. Swarms stay the same cuz they're wicked strong already, and PLC could maybe use a slight buff but they really aren't AA weapons and they currently perform pretty well vs tanks as is. |

Not mlt. Mlt is considered a frame, not a specified asset.

I'm not sure what you mean by it's not an asset since there's Grimsnes, Gorgon, and Incubus (I forget which is basic and which is mlt since they're both garbage). |

Militia gear (dropsuits and whatnot) don't gain benefits from specialist skills. right now the specialist for dropships is the ADS, so in THEORY the militia dropships would benefit from a generic dropship skill.
WoW has taught me that Purple means Legendary. This means Quafe suits are the optimal loadout for killing all of you.

That's kind of what I was figuring.
Since it would be tied to Dropship Command, I am concerned that making it apply to the primary tank only might be complicated for them to do considering the state of things. However, I feel that a total of 10% resist across the board might be a little over kill (as opposed to just the primary tank), but with no way to test it it's hard to say. I just think Dropship Command would be the best place for this skill to make it worth bringing to 5 and giving a little buff to play styles other than just the ADS.
I really feel that tanks would be alright vs forge guns that have a flat 10% damage buff, and that untrained pilots will actually be a bit more vulnerable to them. Also if tiers ever happen then getting it to 5 would be a really good decision for any serious pilot. We need more skills that actually do things, but again, given the state of things it's difficult to imagine even such simple additions to the game.
I'm really just spit balling out of boredom at this point. Seeing if anything sticks. |
