I thought I'd try it out- well.
-you only get 5 charges -they're useless as "traps" since you can't have a weapon out and detonate them at the same time -if you dump all 5 next to a structure they'll still do less damage than a single shot from militia swarm launcher -those 5 charges cost over 1000 money / use -those 5 charges takes up CPU and PG as well
If we were to take a look at other shooters of similar type we'd find them have the following uses:
Trap/Kamikaze vehicles - remote explosives can't do this, since they don't stick onto anything. Raze stationary things - remote explosives can't do this, since they're barely even able to kill a small blaster position Secure/Trap areas - remote explosives can't do this, one exploding next to a heavy will not kill the heavy. Plus you can't have your weapons out while arming and the arming process is a sluggish animation adding further delay to it. |

As someone who uses them, A LOT, I can tell you that they are very effective and good. They just don't work the same why C-4 does in most games you've played. So stop expecting them to be just like a different item from a different game and you'll find just how good they are. |

You could at least give us some examples in how they're good if you're using them so much. |

Remote explosives do about 1.4k damage, if you did not know. being able to detonate them at a whim without holding the detonator? That's silly talk.
Traps - One of these will kill any dropsuit. If you think otherwise - They were out of range of the blast. Even heavies do not have the HP to withstand even one of these.
Structures - These have quite a few hitpoints (CRUs have about 10-12k HP), and to be honest they should have a great deal more. If you use both equipment slots you can take down most structures singlehandedly. This is wrong. But, there's threads about this. Look for them! As for doing more damage with a single swarm than five remote explosives, that is totally false!
Kamikaze vehicles - This is a good thing. Why would anyone pay for a vehicle just to make it explode, as opposed to using it to kill things? As far as traps and vehicles go, you can totally do this. Ditch the vehicle, lay an explosive or two. Wait, and watch. Boom!
The delay is good. It prevents spamming. This means you need to be deliberate and thoughtful in their use. Like the first reply says. If you use them properly they are amazing.

Basically, treat them like equipment, not a weapon. Don't ever try to use them in the middle of a fight. If someone shoots at you, shoot back. Don't pull out your backpack and find a bomb.
They do seem to do decreased damage against small blaster turrets, I'm not sure if that's a glitch or not.
A kind of cheap trip is to throw some down in an area when you know the enemy is going to be there soon. Fight them normally, if you win just wait for more. If you die do not hit respawn right away. The explosives detonate when you hit the respawn button, so you can wait until the person who just killed you step over them and kill them from the grave.
The rest is straightforward, booby trap chokepoints or corners if you know the enemy is coming. And keep in mind unlike everything but the knife you don't show up on the map win you use them, so they are great for sneaking around.
The one thing I have to say though is Remote Explosives favor fast, mobile fighting. So if you're staying and trading shots with people you'll rarely have time to set them up and I recommend a nanohive instead as your equipment. |

I have 1600 total hp and I am regularly one shot by them.
That's a prototype heavy and all of its involved costs wiped out by one or two lvl 1 skill weapon haphazardly tossed in my path.
I think you may actually be looking at a nerf bat, not a buff. There will be a much wider array of remote explosives all specialized for different effects. The current one is sort of a catch all placeholder. |

Okay so let's work this out. Full hp prototype heavies are getting 1shot by them. Yet when I place them they leave heavies with most of their armor. They do 1.4k damage, yet placing 5 on top of a clone spawnpoint and detonating does nothing, while shooting the same spawnpoint with swarm a few times kills it. Are we even playing the same game? |

I have no problem using them, I've taken out a few heavy's with them, and have gotten plenty of points for damaging spawn points and other structures with them and and figured out a few other tactics for them that I wont be mentioning here but all in all I find that there great really.
I can almost hear the poor slob screaming at his TV trying to figure out why he's now almost in orbit, so yhea there class man, maybe you should try something else if the RE are not working out for you. Have you tried running people over in lav's, can be good fun, more so when you drag them for half a mile laughing all the way since you know their not having as much fun as you |

I actually tried that, but for some reason all vehicle controls seem sluggish to me. Game has also completely frozen and force me to restart the console 3 times but at least that's going to get sorted out eventually. |

Rollin' in my Sagaris. Pulling it away from a fight because there's forge guns up on the hills. Turn on my shield rep. Get shields up to 65%. Instantaniously explode. Killfeed reads "Remote Explosive".
A far cry from "Useless"
Should mention - My Sagaris has 2 25% shield resist mods, 14% damage control, and has about 5.3k shield HP. So yea. |

I agree with the OP, they aren't sticky have light damage and the kill radius is laughable. |

like others have said before they are quite useful when used correctly. Ppl are expecting C4 from BF or other games when its not C4.
wanting to take our Clone reserves with a handful of REs? thats just silly.

On that note, taking out clone reserves with 3-4 shots from a fresh toon using the militia shock dropsuit is even more silly. |
