So there is currently an issue with attacks being launched in PC, typically from the 25k CP clone packs, and the attacking team not showing up. It's not fun for the defender, it's annoying, and I really hate seeing a meta that involves NOT playing the game. So here is an idea (numbers are directly from my ass)
Increase CP cost of attacks by 16k CP Clone Packs now cost 41kCP (25k + 16k) Completing a PC match now awards 1k per person
Battle Costs 41k CP 16 People Completing said PC match rewards 16k 41k CP - 16k CP = 25k CP
End result is:
If you launch an attack, show up, and complete the battle, you'll will have spent 25k CP (Same as it is now) If you launch an attack, don't show up, you'll have spent 41k CP
Thoughts?

Possible Problem?
Attack myself (Corp A) with an Alt Corp (Corp B). Field Corp A troops for both sides. Make lots of CP for Corp A. |

Better Idea?
Keep 25k CP Clone Pack Attacks. Add 50k CP Raids.
Have 16 corpmates online? Suspect a bigshot corp might have over expanded? Have inside info on when/where said bigshot corp might be vulnerable? Want to try your luck catchin' 'em with their proverbial pants down?
Want to poke a bear? Raid on the fly!
No waits. No warnings. No ringing. No flipping on win.
Get caught and get righteously smashed by the PC bigshots. Or get away with some of their loot if they can't properly defend their holdings ... % of district clones 'stolen' on raid success.
Could start by assigning each district a "Raid Window", open at a fixed hour, X number of times per week. When the window's open, anyone can hit you without warning.

While I would love to see a proper raiding mechanic, it doesn't really address the problem at hand which is an increasingly large number of no-shows to PC battles.

#1. Every corp with an active roster accumulates CP. #2. Corps which do not hold land have precisely zero options when it comes to spending CP. #3. If CP isn't spent, it is forever lost.
Give non-landholding corps tenable options and see your "problem" resolved. Otherwise, you're treating symptoms. And potentially creating more problems. |

I think youre totally right that people need other things to spend CP on. But I don't think the purpose of a now show battle is just to spend CP for the hell of it. I think it's to distract a corp by making them show up to a meaningless battle. And while I think deception is a fun part of the meta, there sheer number of no shows isn't.

Or just get rid of the stupid aspects of PC.
Scheduling battles 24 - 48 hours in advance and only having 1 in that time period for anyone other than massive corps.
LLLAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGG most commonly actually just terrible frame rates which still make the game just as unplayable.
No reward at all for winning. The DK store becoming populated should help this but still there is nothing "cool" about holding a district and only turns Dust into even more of a job when you have to be on at scheduled times to defend your useless piece of land.
Exactly the same as pub skirm and FW with the exception of not having to worry about Scotty burning you.
It is still more profitable to let ringers in on your district and farm the opposing team so that you have more clones to sell later and less risk of losing that meager income.

Lets look at the causes of No Shows (in no particualr order) from my limited view.
1) District locking.. Alt or Alliance corps with few members attacks a district. Show up, profit and doesnt take it. It hard to combat this, seeing as with planet fight club its very easy to have pre arranged agreements over not taking a district.
2) Members not on: Sombody screws up and doesnt lock a district. Another corp attacks at a time where franlkly none of your members can be on. Its a big ask for a lot of mid to small sized corps to have all of your players available, at the same time, 7 days a week. Iff your corp members have real lives that is. In the old Dust Corps days, I could make the ocassional PC. But if most of my corp are fighting in US time zones, where for me its about 3 in the morning, odds are i'm not going to be there, european members will most likely not show up, ita big ask for the aussies as well to fight PCs in the middle of the working day.
3) Diversionary tactic: Multiple district holding corps gfets several attacks at once, and cant be at all of the,m. No show some, and fight it out the others.
4) Scotty: Sometimes it just screws things up on its own.
Its not the same as dropping battle at the first sign of trouble in a pub, which should be disincentivized. Rather its about tweaking the over all parameters of PC. Raiding still hasnt happned, and I thinmk that in itself would cut down on No Shows, because you can be PC active with out scheduling your life around it.

A no show multiplier?
Don't turn up -1 (EVE pilot) rep +1k CP cost next attack
Turn up +0.5 rep -0.5k CP
With absolute caps at +/-5k CP
That way punishes repeat offenders not one offs caused by Scotty

Launch a no-show and it awards you -10k CPR this gets progressively lower so you may work up to getting -100k CP taking a long time to be able to attack. So that this does not harm those who may have inadvertently no-showed or would like to get into PC they could pay fines to concord or the Corp to reduce the CP loss. |

An alternative is an ISK deposit you put down when you launch the attack. You get a full refund if you show up, and if you don't it's paid out to the other team. This would be ISK neutral since money is only changing hands and not being created. It could be an ISK sink if some of the deposit is destroyed along with the payout.
Best PvE idea ever!

Oh good then we can sit around and DDOS each other for ISK.

If you don't already own land, you have no hope of gaining some through honest work.
It's still a blue donut, it just isn't blue anymore. Small corps gearing up and banding together get fan-mail through the entire warbarge wait. Get insane amounts of top gear and vehicles thrown at them with limitless funding. More fan-mail after the battle. Even raids, while lucrative, are not worth the stress.
While I'm sure the lions share of the no shows are from top corp alt corps; The no shows that aren't people you see every day are well deserved.
