Currently the SRL (Surface Research Lab) is the least useful SI (Surface Infrastructure) the reason being is their is no advantage over the other SI's. The cargo hub has slow regen but has high clone storage making it perfect for launching attacks as you can send a lot of clones without making it too vulnerable. The producion facility has less clones but produces clones the fastest making it ideal for the sale of clones and being used to transfer clones to reinforce weak districts. The SRL however has identical clones to the PF but less regen. It is already unpopular due to the fact that it is abused by the broken Myofibrals. The only bonus it gives is from my understanding a slight EVE bonus which is nice to have but not significant enough to be sough out by EVE alliances. Their should be steps taken to make them useful for example: Higher DK rewards for games played CP actions cost less when done on SRLs
Feel free to brainstorm ideas how to make them worth while. |

Since it's a research lab, how about giving it a slightly different kind of bonus? Since we're expecting simple crafting soon(ish), what if the research lab gave some sort of bonus towards that end? The possession of one or more possibly allowing special crafting to be done, or allowing production to be more efficient; reducing the number of required materials for each created item. Assuming the items you can make through simple crafting can be useful to a PC oriented corp, possibly high end weapons, modules, or suits (and preferably can be traded), it would make it a useful facility to own.
Alternatively, something along the lines of increasing production of, or reducing required number of, warbarge components for your warbarge seems like it could also be interesting.
I've never been involved in a PC, though, so my perspective on what you guys may or may not find useful is obviously fairly lacking and I may not even be understanding the terms properly. But I feel my suggestions could be something useful for the corp and make them (possibly) desirable districts to own, therefore encouraging actual battles over them.
Assuming what I'm proposing is even possible, of course. Corp-wide bonus to something based on number of specific surface infrastructures owned? It seems like it wouldn't be too hard, but I'm no programmer and I don't know exactly how janked this game's code is. |

Some good ideas. The bonus to transporting clones isn't very appealing to new teams considering the low amount of clones you can safely send, and by the time you've gotten a few extra districts it hardly matters anyway as you can use the high number of clones on a Cargo Hub to offset the clone loss.
Teams that play on research maps are typically just looking for battle variety, rather than a strategic advantage.
I challenge you to a Gwent duel!

I disagree with the Clone transport bonus not being useful, with a SRL you can send attacks upto 4? jumps and it will cost the same as attacking a District next door to you.. I understand Cargo Hubs are handier to drop 400 clones when you feel cranky but for actively fighting a mix of Corps in different systems the SRL is useful enough..
It's not great for flipping as you can't really send many Clones Also a risk on defending as you only have 300 Clones..
But to engage in a variety of matches the SRL works well, there simply isn't enough land in MH for each active Corp in MH to get a few extra districts so this works out for Corps that want to be active to fight PC battles without holding too much land.
I agree, compared to Cargo Hubs the bonus does not seem useful when you are used to dropping 449 bombs on other districts, but for regular battles it is quite useful, and I see no need to change it rather than add something new instead.
