I was playing a Dom on the Gallente Reseach Facility yesterday and there was this one guy who would zerg in in an Apex Serpent Scout, spam REs and detonate, often killing himself along with most of the people inside the room thingy.
Who was more of a scrub? Me for running Proto, or him for running Apex?

.... Both? One for running proto when he's losing isk, the other for harming his KD. Although he has advantage cuz he instead loosing isk. But he still killing himself an refusing clone count from enemy which is good for you as they can run out quicker.

I would say neither of you were "scrubby."
That player was using nothing but a cost efficient method for helping his team take back the objective. You, Dreis, were just in your usual proto: defending the objective, taking out reds from behind, etc.
Seems lie viable tactics to me with the only difference being the price of the suits you were wearing, |

I just want to know which is more tryhardy/scrubby: running Proto or Apex.

Tryhard is going proto for no reason
IMO you should only pull it out if necessary to win, otherwise stick to ADV
but the APEX thing is a bit stupid where on many dom maps where the point is a fortress up to 3 nomad assaults with myofibs and remotes hop in drop run out and get 20+ kills

Imho, the problem here is deeper: you think he is a scrub because he was using cheap tactics to free an area, he thinks you are a scrub because you and your squad are unkillable son of ... well, you already got what I mean.
If people actually "died" in this game, nobody would ever care about kamikaze attacks or cheap tactics (camping on high places, roofs, playing with jumpy suits etc). If you don't die, whether because you are wearing a super fast-strafing suit or a uber-tanked heavy here comes the cheap tactics. But this is normal, everyone would be frustrated if you think you are a good shot but can't kill anything.

If you insist, then its clearly the proto layout.
APEX is right now because of fiiting slots, nothing more than a standard bpo. You pull it to out to make a profit, because you are going to die. Its still a fair fight, albiet cheaper for the APEX guy.
People who consistently pull the proto out to stomp anybody in a pub with a lower tier suit. Thats your motivation, then you are the scrub.

I find running the Kampo apex more profitable than running other suits
plus saving isk for officer and other stuff like skins and bpo's.

First I would say that you were dumb for running proto in pubs. Not because of the cost or anything but because it is generally not even any fun or makes any difference due to wonked out mechanics.
If anything he had the right idea running an APEX as in all likely hood half of his team was not helping meaning that by fighting he was nothing more than a crash test dummy no matter what tactic he used so why not minimize losses so that you can atleast have fun getting slaughtered over and over.
My actual answer to your question is that you are the worst kind of scrub for trying to call him a scrub just because he chose to make a profit in what is a very broken payout system and game mode in general. This would ultimately qualify you as a super try hard who believes every one should do exactly as he does.

I'd just go back to using militia gear full-time if that happened, since I rage too hard dying with high-priced toys...Besides, the ADV/PRO loadouts only seem to bring me bad luck, especially in a close FW match when I'm in tryhard mode:
