Overheating penalties for laser rifles, HMG's and Scrambler rifles. 3x overheats max after that HMG's jam up and the crystals in Scrambler/laser rifles melt and weapon becomes unusable unless near a Nanohive. Nanohives fully repair the damaged guns. Balancing those who freely overheat their weapons without care. |

The seize duration those weapons is enough of a balance, though the heat build up should be looked at. Having the weapon break down for overheating would just push people away from those weapons, or just camping on Nanohives/around Depots.

I don't see why not! Given the description of those weapons is garbage (brief and vague). You basically stick a battery with cooled liquid nitrogen in it to charge and keep your weapon cooled.
That's the only reasonable explanation for the overheating cylindrical capsule you replace. It's a battery and a coolant. It shouldn't even take ammo if it is a lazer. |

Calling bulls**t. In EVE online the laser weps are unlimited ammo....until the crystal breaks. Quit trying to shoehorn in stupid details when there is lore already in place.
I think there should be a laser crystal reserve in the event you overheat your SCR or you LR...

OR get rid of the mag and give the SCRs and LRs a big charge amount that refills when not used. It fits in the lore.
Function and balance should take priority over lore. Dust already does things differently from EVE in regard to Hybrid weapons.
