When did your ps3 start freezing when playing dust?
I have a rather old ps3,the big chunky one with 2 USB ports and a tiny storage capacity. Mine started turning into a unresponsive hunk of hot ice somewhere around Christmas. I think around the time I pissed kingthunder(that's racist!)bolt off and I got my own youtube videos made about me being a scout that can't kill a gk.0 heavy with a boundless hmg and a reptool on him and how I had no skill and that I was a racist jerk.

My original PS3 died after closed beta just before the open phase...January 13?
That was an old fat boy. Freeze, lock, choke, dead
Then I got a new slim one and its done very well until recently...past month or two...having occasional hard freezes that require a hard reboot/reset.
I worry that bad code, memory leaks and overheating issues tend to take an increasing toll on all PS3s running DUST. Eventually they all die.
And, given the pending legacy change to the PS3; no longer produced or supported by Sony...this is the dinosaur in the room.

Luckily technology always seems to hold out or just do more in my hands. (Magictechtouch?) This ps3 will die,but only when dust dies with it, then I'll just go play black ops 3 on the ps4,or team fotress 2 on the PC.

the model number would be better to state rather then just saying "fat boy" "slim" as there are over 10 different models of the PS3
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3_models- heres a link to help you figure out which model you have
I have the CECH 3001B thats the slim (not super slim) that has 320 gigs of memory
my model seems to work just fine with dust and no real problems can be directly associated to dust other then the usual performance problems due to lack of memory as many seem to say, I assume this but I have had similar problems with other games and it might be due to in game coding and memory leaks of some sort rather then the capabilities of the device
older models may suffer due to older parts and overall less storage as well as use, I have had mine for about 5 or so years now I got it about the same time the model came out so it cant be more then 5 years but it still runs games like crysis 3 smoothly without any problems as well as running skyrim and fallout new vegas perfectly fine
I don't often get frame rate drops but I have taken precautions to avoid that but server side lag and ping (when connecting to other servers other then the US) still does affect me this is something that cannot be avoided without making serious changes
if you have a model older then that of the CECH 2000B I would suggest upgrading to something newer however I am not certain if the super slim performs better then the slim or if there is that much of a difference in the slim models but the older originals seem to struggle more with dust

Yaw. That huge chunk of post hurts my brain. I dont know what model fat boy we got because the dudes who cleaned up the mancave took all the game stuff for cleaning(bullshart). All I know is that when dust dies, fat boy dies with it. And the ps4 finnaly gets his turn to shine.

Slim > Super Slim. It also looks better.
Freezes.. hardly do I recall my last one. After you take certain steps regarding your ps3, settings and Dust itself you will only suffer from lags and fps drops caused by Dust/server.

Reinstall Dust. Rebuild database. Clean vent covers.
I can almost guarantee you will not see another freeze.

If your PS3 starts lagging due to dust, throw it in the sink (unplugged of course) and then put it in the microwave for about 10 minutes on high to dry it out- this will fix lag, frame rate, hit detection, and proto stomping.

I've done all of that. And more I've taken the whole thing apart and removes every speck of dust in it. Fat boy is just dying because of dust. I'll bury him when dust dies.
